POV: You're finding your spark again and you remember that fashion brings you JOY.💃🏻

Somewhere along the way, between chronic illness, perimenopause, inflation and ever changing trends, I began dressing for function more than anything else. And technically, there's nothing wrong with that. Except that it kinda felt like a part of me died. Because I LOVE clothes. I always have. I may not be the fashionista I once was, but that's ok. Just as we grow and change with each season of life, my style has evolved as well. I don't need to be the showstopper, I just want to feel good in what I'm wearing and like what I see in the mirror. 🪞

Since coming out of this recent depression, I've been challenging myself to get dressed each day (most days). And it's helped me feel more like myself again. And the more I feel like me, the more I remember that fashion is supposed to be FUN. So here are a few fun fits that have helped me find my spark again. 🦄🪩✨

Costochondritis still flaring up (among other things), but it's getting better. Still can't lift as heavy as I'd like but range of motion is improving so I'm getting it done, modifying as needed and pushing through where I can.

Season four of @bluelightstvofficial is FINALLY here and episode one did not disappoint!🚔🚨 Settling in for the evening with Layla, my emotional support blanket, some snacks and @britboxtv. If you think I'm ignoring you, I probably am. 😜

⚠️ Vulnerable post...

There's a reason I've been posting more selfies lately. No, I'm not trying to be a social media influencer and no, I'm not just full of myself.
•
The truth is, my most recent health flare completely blindsided me and I became very depressed. Prior to this flare, I'd been doing pretty ok-ish (high praise in the chronic illness community) for a while and there were no warning signs before I had the rug pulled out from under me (again). Flares happen, I get that. But this one floored me and lasted way longer than I expected. From my social media posts, you'd never know I was drowning. Like so many others with a chronic illness, I learned to mask well.
•
What does this have to do with selfies, you ask? Well, after spending several months in sweatpants, unable to function (let alone get dressed) most days, I'm trying to force myself to get dressed (most days, anyway), and posting selfies helps keep me accountable. It's not about being the most stylish (sometimes the best I can do is a t shirt and jeans). It's not about trying to be trendy or trying to look cool. But after a big flare up, I just need to remind myself how to exist in the world again, one small step at a time. And it's the little things, like getting dressed or fixing my hair that can make a big difference.
•
So there you have it. I'm just a girl, standing in front of a mirror, asking her to love herself enough to get dressed for the day. 🫶🏻

Anniversary workout. Keeping it tight for my boo @_peabody_ 😆😘
•
I'm totally kidding BTW. While my hubby certainly benefits from my workouts, I do them for ME.

You can't imagine the amount of self control it took for me to snap this pic before devouring these tacos. 🌮🤤 And this was just the first round. You better believe I had seconds.🫣 After a crappy day, this was the perfect early anniversary meal to share with @_peabody_ 💕

Cool girl fit for my Dr appointment this morning. Figured at least I'd look good while finding out what's wrong with me. 😜
