On September 11, 2026, a group of St. John’s administrators and students volunteered with 9/11 Day to honor the lives lost 25 years ago in the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001. As part of the service effort, our St. John’s group served as support staff, helping guide fellow volunteers through the meal-packing process. Together, volunteers prepared jambalaya meals that will be distributed to families in need throughout New York City. Together with volunteers from across the community, our Johnnies helped pack more than 165,000 meals! A heartfelt thank you to the 9/11 Day organization for welcoming our Johnnies to this meaningful day of service, and to US Hunger for coordinating this incredible effort. We are proud of our St. John’s community for coming together to serve others and honor the legacy of those we lost. ❤️ @911day @us_hunger @mets #NeverForget by @stjohnsuserves
This is how we (Ren)du it! This week, our Vincentian Service Graduate Assistants, Student Outreach Leaders, and Vincentian Service Student Assistants attended at two-day training experience geared toward learning about the mission and preparing to lead the SJU community in service this academic year! After a day of service and exploring in Germantown, PA, our Rendu-ers returned to campus for formal training on leadership and reflection — and cooled down with famous Philadelphia water ices 🍧 #SOL #StudentOutreachLeaders #VincentianServiceandSocialJustice #RosalieRendu #Germantown by @stjohnsuserves
☀️ Summer Spotlight: Meet Angela Seegel! ☀️ ✨Meet the face of the Institute of Vincentian Impact, Executive Director of IVI, Dr. Angela Seegel!✨ I’ve been part of the University family for over 25 years, and the Mission area has always been my home. I started out in Campus Ministry, and now I get to champion the work of the Institute -spreading the love of the Vincentian mission through research, storytelling, and community engagement. It’s been a joyful journey of purpose, people, and a passion for Vincentian service.💙 My favorite part of being in IVI is getting to live out the Vincentian spirit every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to share the heart of the Vincentian mission through research, and community engagement. It is a true privilege to journey with college students searching for the answers of dignity for all and watching them become the best version of themselves in the world, and for the world. I also work alongside some of the most incredible colleagues that engage in meaningful work. IVI is a special place to work.🌎❤️ Angela’s Fun Fcats: 🌟 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 I’m one of eight children, which basically means I grew up in a built-in comedy show! 💙 I’m a very proud aunt to 20 nieces and nephews. 💍 I’ve been with my husband for 30 years and married for 25! ❤️ We have three amazing kids who keep life busy, full, and filled with love. Here’s to the people, the purpose, and Vincentian spirit that have made these 25+ years such a meaningful journey. ☀️💙 #IVISummerSpotlight #StJohnsUniversity #VSSJ #CommunityEngagedLearning #StJohnsUServes by @stjohnsuserves
☀️ Summer Spotlight! ☀️ ✨Meet one of the faces behind Vincent Service and Social Justice, Director of VSSJ, Dana Livingston! ✨ I’ve been working at St. John’s since 2021 - fun fact, I started working in Campus Ministry as the Residence Minister for Retreats and Leadership a week after I graduated with my master’s! In my final academic year, I was the Graduate Assistant for that role. 🎓 One of my favorite parts about working in VSSJ is how closely we get to connect with the community beyond campus. Getting to know the people in the neighborhoods surrounding SJU and learning more about the communities that our university serves has truly been one of the most life-giving aspects of my time at St. John’s. ❤️ Dana’s Fun Facts: 📝 I’m a published poet! 🧘 I’ve been a yoga teacher for four years! Here’s to the opportunity to learn, serve, create, and build community every day at St. John’s. ☀️💙 #IVISummerSpotlight #StJohnsUniversity #VSSJ #CommunityEngagedLearning #StJohnsUServes by @stjohnsuserves
☀️ Summer Spotlight Series ☀️ Meet one of the faces behind Community Engaged Learning, Director of CEL, Frank Peluso! 💙🤝 I’ve been working at St. John’s full-time for 9+ years, and for the past 3 years I’ve had the privilege of serving in the Institute for Vincentian Impact through Community Engaged Learning (CEL). ✨ My favorite part about working in IVI is the people! They’re all so incredibly dedicated to helping those in need, and they’re more than just colleagues—they’re friends. ❤️ One of the most rewarding parts of my role is bringing faculty members and community-based organizations together to create meaningful projects that support community needs while giving students unique, hands-on learning experiences. 📚 Franks’ Fun Facts: I’ve been to more countries than U.S. states! 🌍 While I call NYC home, you’ll often find me in the middle of the woods hiking, camping, kayaking, or fishing. 🥾🏕️🎣 Here’s to building stronger communities, creating meaningful connections, and inspiring students through service! 💫 #IVISummerSpotlight #CommunityEngagedLearning #StJohnsUniversity #StJohnsUServes by @stjohnsuserves

Starting as the Assistant Director of Campus Activities before finding my home with the Ozanam Scholars, where I’ve spent the last 3 years. 🌎 My favorite part of this work has been building relationships with incredible communities and having the opportunity to travel alongside our students. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 Nico’s fun fact: In just 3.5 years, I’ve led 10 service trips - 9 international and 1 domestic - creating memories and meaningful experiences every step of the way!✈️ Here’s to more service, more connections, and more adventures ahead! 💫 #IVISummerSpotlight #OzanamScholars #StJohnsUniversity #StJohnsUServes by @stjohnsuserves
