🧠 Do you think inside your head? No. You think in the world. What if our ideas don’t actually come from inside us but from the world around us? Every sound, image, conversation, place, encounter and experience leaves a trace. We absorb it, transform it, mix it with everything else we’ve lived… and turn it into something of our own. ✨ As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Michael Hanchett Hanson, developmental psychologist and teacher at @columbia, explores the creative process of screenwriters during a collaborative writing session at @legroupeouest with @limprogramme , the European Story Lab. In this excerpt, he invites us to shift our perspective: the world is the alpha and omega of our thinking and creativity. Everything that happens to us, everything we see, hear, experience and share with others, feeds our thoughts. We take these experiences then transform them and pass them on in our own way. 👉 Without the world, we wouldn’t think. 🎬 Watch the full StoryTANK Season 6 on YouTube and at storytank.eu. #StoryTANK #Season6 #EuropeanStoryLab #CreativeProcess #storytelling by @storytank
🧠✨ Meet Michael Hanchett Hanson, developmental psychologist and teacher at @columbia. His research explores how creativity develops within complex social and material systems, challenging the idea that creative thinking is simply an individual process. For Michael, creativity doesn’t happen in isolation: it emerges through our interactions with others, our environments, and the tools and practices we engage with. For StoryTANK Season 6, Michael brings his perspective on creativity as a collective and participatory process, exploring how ideas take shape through shared experiences, interactions and creative practices. Drawing on his research in psychology, education and the construction of the self, he invites us to rethink what it means to be creative, and how our social and material surroundings influence the way we imagine, think and create. 💡 Through his perspective, Season 6 takes a closer look at creativity as something we build together, rather than something that happens only within us. 🎬 Discover Michael’s documentary and all 5 films from StoryTANK Season 6 on YouTube and at storytank.eu → link in bio. #StoryTANK #Creativity #Psychology #Storytelling #CreativeProcess by @storytank
🌍 Stop floating away… and come back down to earth from time to time! As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy Ross, cognitive psychology lecturer and researcher at King’s College, observes screenwriters at work in the Plateau, a creative working space developed by @legroupeouest and @limprogramme, the European Story Lab. In this excerpt, she explores how focusing closely on precise observation can usefully rein in our imagination. And what if, in order to give our brains more space to imagine, we sometimes need to return to the concrete, the real, what is right in front of us? 👀 Grounding our attention in reality can give the brain new points of reference — something to bounce off, shift from, and take our imagination in a new direction. ✨ #storytank #storytelling #imagination #psychology #screenwriting by @storytank
🔥 Are creative people reckless? Do they lack common sense? Or do they simply know how to listen to a different kind of logic? 👀 As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy Ross, cognitive psychology lecturer and researcher at King’s College, explores the creative process of screenwriters during a collaborative writing session at @legroupeouest and @limprogramme, the European Story Lab. In this excerpt, Wendy explains how moments of disruption and unexpected change can trigger serendipity in the creative process. These unexpected choices aren’t necessarily the most comfortable ones — or the least risky. They are made because they feel right. ✨ What if creativity isn’t always about making the most rational choice, but about daring to follow your intuition, even when it leads you into the unknown? 💡 What Season 5 allowed us to experiment with, Season 6 seeks to understand. 💡 Have you ever experienced an “aha moment”? That sudden flash when everything clicks and — there it is! — you have the idea. ✨ Well, this feeling is similar to what happens when you suddenly get a joke… and burst out laughing. 😂 As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy Ross, cognitive psychology lecturer and researcher at King’s College, explores the creative process of screenwriters during a collaborative writing session at @legroupeouest & @limprogramme the European Story Lab. In this excerpt, Wendy explains why collective laughter can be such an important part of collective creativity. When we laugh together, we connect. We become more open to one another, build trust and feel more comfortable sharing ideas, even the unexpected or unfinished ones. 🧠💬✨ Because sometimes, an idea needs a little laughter to emerge. 😉 Watch all 5 documentaries from StoryTANK Season 6 in full on YouTube and at storytank.eu linked in bio. ✨ Surprise! Surprise! Does discovering something unexpected automatically make you more creative? Not really. Sometimes, it’s the act of making sense of what surprises you that sparks creativity. 💡As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy Ross, cognitive psychology lecturer and researcher at King’s College, explores the creative process of screenwriters during a collaborative writing session at the Greenhouse, one of the creative working environments developed by @legroupeouest and @limprogramme , the European Story Lab. During their session, the screenwriters experimented with AI-generated images — without fully controlling or knowing what the final results would look like. Instead, they allowed themselves to be surprised by the images that emerged. And that surprise became a creative trigger. In this excerpt, Wendy explains how the need to make sense of unexpected images can spark new ideas, stimulate discussion and awaken the collective creativity of a group. 🧠✨ Watch all 5 documentaries from StoryTANK Season 6 in full on YouTube and at storytank.eu linked in bio. When it comes to creativity, are you Team “Bread” 🍞 or Team “Fire” 🔥? As part of StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy Ross, cognitive psychology lecturer and researcher at @lifeatkings, explores the creative process of screenwriters during an intensive collaborative writing session. She observes the writers as they work within the Greenhouse — creative space developed by @legroupeouest and @limprogramme , the European Story Lab — and examines how the working environment and creative tools can shape the creative writing process. In this excerpt, Wendy talks about the creative power of words, but also the power of images when they suddenly appear right in front of you. 👀✨ Watch all 5 documentaries from StoryTANK Season 6 in full on YouTube and at storytank.eu linked in bio. 🧠✨ Meet Wendy Ross, lecturer and researcher at @lifeatkings. Her research explores serendipity in higher cognitive processes, how unexpected events, accidents, encounters and our environment can spark new ideas. For Wendy, thinking doesn’t happen only inside our heads: creativity emerges through our interactions with the people, objects and situations around us. For StoryTANK Season 6, Wendy dives into the creative process of screenwriters as they build fictional stories collectively through creative tools and working environments developed by @legroupeouest and @limprogramme , the European Story Lab. With curiosity, simplicity and enthusiasm, she looks at what happens when ideas emerge: the role of surprise, images, laughter, intuition, disruption, close observation… and all those unexpected moments that can shift a story in a new direction. 💡 Through her perspective, Season 6 takes a closer look at the fascinating, non-linear process of creating ideas together. 🎬 Discover Wendy’s documentary and all 5 films from StoryTANK Season 6 on YouTube and at storytank.eu → link in bio. #StoryTANK #Creativity #Psychology #Storytelling #CreativeProcess by @storytank
