9TH PLACE USS NATIONALS 2023

Set a career goal several years ago to be a top ten heavyweight at nationals before I was done with the sport, and here I am at 21. I didn’t have a real structured prep at all, and I came in under poor circumstances facing a leg infection and lots of travel, but it didn’t matter. I honestly didn’t perform to my capabilities at all, and still came away with a ninth place finish. I got a deadlift rep that would have been an additional several places taken away for being locked out less than a second after the whistle, my axle press warm up was within 30 seconds of the actual event, and I had never touched or trained for any of the other implements at all, and the outcome still came out in my favor. I was honestly expecting around 50th-60th going into this weekend, which tells me one thing. It’s time for muccccchhhgg bigger goals. For now though I’m going to take a day or two to appreciate where I’m at and how grateful I am to have come so far in the sport I love. I’m a bad mf and I’m going to be around for a long time, so y’all better keep me on the radar.

Huge thank you to my brothers @nattyryancasey and @philip.everard for everything and of course @emma.nelson306 and my parents and @sharp_strong13

Thank you to all my gyms @vintageirongym @trueperformancefitness.wv and @theshopgym for giving me a place to get better around good people.

Shouts out to @fairfaxwrestling @lilio327 @nate.marsh.52 for showing me how to fight.

Finally a big thank you to both of the coaches I’ve worked with for being a part of my journey so far Jordan and @tyleryoungproshortman

Had to get small emergency surgery the night after for a leg infection so I’m gonna heal up from that and I’ll be back with my eyes on bigger things soon. 🫡🫡 by @strongmanvince

This was one of the things we wrote on our whiteboard that kept us going every day. Giving back to those who gave to us.

Blessed to be in the spot that we are in where we’re able to help those around us. This is only the beginning.
