Clean Slate @studio50_gallery this weekend
Join us for the opening evening @imhofffarm on First Thursday, 5 Nov at 17h30

As 2026 draws to a close, Clean Slate invites us to pause, step back and consider the possibility of beginning again.

Inspired by Pantone’s 2026 Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer, the exhibition embraces the quiet presence of off-white as more than a colour. It becomes a space for reflection, renewal and possibility. In a world saturated with information, noise and constant connection, the colour offers a moment of stillness. It is a visual exhale, a return to simplicity and an invitation to focus on what truly matters.

Clean Slate brings together a diverse group of artists working across different mediums responding to the many nuances of white. Far from being empty or without character, white can hold light, shadow, texture, memory and emotion. It can soften, reveal, obscure and transform.

The works in this exhibition explore white in all its subtle variations, from warmth to coolness, opacity to translucency, restraint to abundance. Together, they create a contemplative landscape where material, form and light take centre stage.

As one year gives way to another, Clean Slate offers an opportunity to slow down and make space for what comes next. A blank page. A breath. A moment of clarity.

A clean slate, not as an absence of what has been, but as an invitation to what could be.

Counting Hope — Gill Allderman

How do we count hope? In days, in years, or in the broader sense of believing that things can change?

The stitched white underpainting suggests repair and mending, while the gold-leaf markings evoke the act of counting, days in isolation, days of recovery , time, or the moments that measure our lives. Counting Hope is a reflection on endurance, healing, and the possibility of renewal.

Mixed media on canvas
Framed in Kiaat
92x122cm

Barnacles | by @astridvonbrucken

Barnacles come together in communities, each inhabiting its own protective shell while extending delicate feelers into the ocean for nourishment.

They speak of belonging, of coming together and finding the security to reach beyond our boundaries into new beginnings.
