“Odraščala sem v mestu, vendar sem se tam vedno počutila utesnjeno. Ko sem prvič stala pred hišo moževe družine v Iški, skoraj nisem mogla verjeti, da ljudje res živijo tako - sredi gozda!”

Nekdanja novinarka, ki jo je življenje iz Moskve pripeljalo v slovensko vas. Šele tu je spoznala, kako zelo potrebuje naravo in kako vpliva na to, kako doživlja svet in sliši svoje misli.

V ustvarjanju vidi nekaj več. Fizik Richard Feynman je ob razmišljanju o predavanjih Michaela Faradaya zapisal: »Ne glede na to, kaj opazuješ, če pogledaš dovolj pozorno, se znajdeš vpleten v celotno vesolje.«

Hi there! 👋🏻

Come, come, whoever you are - if you are interested in arts, crafts and things made by hand come and make yourself comfortable!

My name is Lucy. I was born and raised in Moscow, but have been living in beautiful Slovenian countryside since 2016.

Before recently I have hardly ever held a tool in my hands… Well, life has an outstanding sense of humour, I tell ya.

In 2016 curiosity led me to a jewellery class. That became the beginning of a new journey I threw myself full-steam ahead into.
Journey filled with passion, fulfilment, excitement as well as loads of self-doubt, crippling perfectionism, frustration and anxiety.

So, what is it I do? Well, many things. The simple answer would be - I create objects by hand in my small home studio.

I play with structures and forms, cut, grind, bend, forge, file, and polish. I try to make sense of and tame the material world through manipulating my main medium - metal.

I also try to coax out the beauty of the material at hand and to connect with other people through this process.

It’s a whole lotta shakin’ going on, you see… And you are warmly welcome to join in. 🪩✌🏻

A new version of the Keeper is taking shape.

This one will rest on a leather cord, with a clasp I made by hand and little emeralds adding touches of green.

I found this piece of driftwood and couldn’t get its shape out of my mind.

Here I’m slowly charring the surface with a little kitchen torch, following the curves already there. For now, it stands in my workshop, waiting for its moment. I don’t know yet what it will become—and I’m happy to give it time.

Today I turn 39. Forty is only a year away—and I don’t think I have ever felt better than I do now.

Over the past ten years, I have grown much closer to myself. In the past I didn’t know what I wanted, what I could rely on, where my “yes” was and where my “no” was. Life happened to me, and I mostly tried to fend off whatever came flying my way.

Now I have an inner compass. I am learning to move towards whatever holds genuine interest, freedom, beauty, and honesty, not to remain where I have to make myself smaller, pretend, or live according to someone else’s script.

I have had to learn to be on my own side. To protect my true self, not to abandon myself when I am hurting or afraid, nor to sweep difficult feelings under the rug.

Maybe that is why this past year has brought my website, Studio Corvus, and so many other exciting new things.

I gave myself permission to begin without already knowing how. To do things imperfectly. To make mistakes. To fail. To continue.

I have a loving partner @mazi.waters who sees me and listens to me. And there is my child—a small, living reminder of how enormous an appetite for life can be. How it is possible to meet the world not from a place of fear, but curiosity.

Once, I asked a fellow jeweller @ursularihtarjewellery , “Aren’t you afraid to make mistakes?”

“No,” she said. “I’m curious.”

What kept driving her forward was the question: “What if?”

I think it has become my question too.

I feel like a hungry child who has been brought into a sweet shop. I am curious about everything. I want to read all the books, try every craft, and create so many more things. I want to trust myself more, listen to myself more closely, and see where it takes me.

Each of us has an entire lifetime in which to create our own meaning. But to do that, we have to walk the path.

And I am walking.
