ELEMENT

- just before dawn -

We are delighted to return once again to our project in Moabit with Nate Cook and capture a few images while everyone is still asleep.
Before the first rays of sunlight illuminate the timber facade and the prefabricated elements, the building shines in its own unique way.
Carefully considered and thoughtfully designed, the external lighting concept not only ensures the safe use of exterior escape routes and stairwells at night—it also allows the building’s unique structure to remain legible and expressive after dark.

DUBRO

Rowhouse Revitalization

The townhouse from the 1970s has been awakened from its long slumber. The originally compact and cleverly designed floor plan was to be restored to its essence, with the aim of reactivating the characteristic spatial connections of its split-level architecture. The goal was to update the house both aesthetically and energetically to meet contemporary standards.

PROMM
Wohnungsumbau

Apartment Redesign in Classic Berlin Altbau

A contemporary transformation of a Berlin Altbau in Kreuzberg. The apartment has been reconfigured to make better use of the existing space, creating new connections while keeping its original character.

The kitchen moves into the Berliner Zimmer, with custom oak-veneered cabinetry, a natural stone countertop, and a dining area opening onto the balcony.

The narrow main bathroom combines a bathtub and shower with travertine walls and a compact vanity unit. A second shower room is newly integrated into the floor plan, finished in dark green Verde Guatemala stone.

Custom built-ins, original floorboards and warm, natural materials bring the old and new together.

BRUECKE

The Extension to the Brücke Museum brings the existing structure, new building, and landscape together in a cohesive spatial composition. A transparent connecting space links old and new while opening the museum to the forest. Flexible exhibition spaces and a sensitive approach to the existing building create a contemporary, versatile addition.

Studio LOES, founded in Berlin in 2017, specialises in working with existing buildings. Rather than ‘investor glamour’, the focus is on careful interventions and long-term usability. Their BRIZE project in Neukölln demonstrates how this approach has to be renegotiated on a daily basis during the detailed design phase and on site. A roof extension that has long since become much more than just a new storey. Co-founder Onur Özdemir spoke about his experiences to date on this ongoing project.

PROMM
Wohnungsumbau
