ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS JOËL ANDRIANOMEARISOA For the exhibition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize 2026, a project conceived and imagined by Joël Andrianomearisoa. Fabric is the art of transmission. It connects, brings together, and sometimes mends. Like the thread of stories passed down through the generations, it is composed of interweavings, solid areas, folds, tensions, and connections. In Joël Andrianomearisoa’s work, the prominence given to manual labour engages in a dialogue with an aesthetic that readily draws on a sensual minimalism. The forms are well-defined, understated and often geometric; for a long time, the surfaces of his works—canvases of fabric and paper treated as objects—shared a common monochromatic black palette. Paradoxically, this economy of visual language leaves ample room for interpretation and emotional intensity. Annabelle Ténèze ABCDEFG . HIJKLMNOP . ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS JOËL ANDRIANOMEARISOA For the exhibition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize 2026, a project conceived and imagined by Joël Andrianomearisoa. Creating, exchanging, talking to one another and listening to one another remain ways of caring for things, for others and for oneself. Memories and potential futures, absences and presences, desires and expectations, despair and hope, fragility and reassurance emerge from forms and words: in short, all the possible forms of tenderness. The exhibition is a constellation of voices, an alphabet in which each letter is a work, each work a note, each word an emotion, and each sentence a promise of an emotional state. [The exhibition] #PrixMarcelDuchamp 2026 ► @joelandria Embedded within a poetic matrix, Joël Andrianomearisoa’s work spans various disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Words are brought to life not only through their physical inscription-whether on paper surfaces or metal structures-but also through their translation into abstract textile compositions, done through a subtle transcoding of colours and materials. ✨ Laureate announced on October 22 📸 Photos © Nicolas Brasseur © StudioJ.Andrianomearisoa #JoëlAndrianomearisoa #ADIAF #ContemporaryArt #ArtContemporain @alminerech @sabrinaamrani @primomarellagallery @annabelle_teneze by @studiojoelandrianomearisoa
