POSTS STORIES REELS

Ran my longest run to date post surgery. Gotta build those miles. I ran the entire length of the Stower Seven Lakes Trail. A rail trail that’s part of a series of state trails here in Wisconsin. Tried to get pics of all seven lakes but missed a couple. Lots of information panels about the plants and animals in the area. All in all a very nice run. I felt great, the heart is working like it should. #stowersevenlakestrail #wisconsintrailsystem #longrunsunday by @stuff_jim_does

Started my post retirement little job this morning. For a couple days a week I’ll get to put gas in planes, tow them around, hang out at the airport and generally make a nuisance of myself. How fun! Oh, and they pay me money too. Added a couple more pics below. #k21d #lakeelmoaero #airplanes by @stuff_jim_does

First time I drove past here I thought this was a music store in our little unincorporated town. Wrong, it’s Wisconsin so it’s a bar, and a pretty awesome one. We finally made a field trip here last night for my birthday. Much fun was had playing darts, quarters, and pull tabs with our son and friends. Apparently their pizza gets rave reviews too. If you ever come to visit we’ll be taking you here. #wisconsinbar #wisconsin #kenskeyboard by @stuff_jim_does

Did a thing today. Ran the Trout Brook 10 mile in Willow River State Park, just down the road. My longest run since March and definitely the longest since my surgery. Gorgeous trails and fall colors. Small low key race. I went into it looking for a longer run, checking out some local trails, and just to see where I was at with my running. I was pretty happy with the run since I’ve only been running for a month. My running feels so different from pre surgery, so much better. I feel like the clock has been turned back ten years as far as my running goes. I still have a long ways to go before I try any sort of ultra distance, but I feel pretty good about getting there fairly soon. All in all a successful and happy day. #trailrunning #willowriverstatepark #stcroixrunningcompany by @stuff_jim_does

Gorgeous fall morning for a walk to the river and back. Plus it looks like there’s a bear still hanging out near the house. by @stuff_jim_does

Look at Jim.
See Jim run.
See Jim run…..not fast at all.
Run Jim run.
Tomorrow marks 12 weeks since my valve job. I am now cleared to start running. Added bonus, Karen wants to start running with me. We did a little 4 mile route we have walked many times.
There was still a fair bit of walking. The pace wasn’t fast at all but it sure felt good. It felt really good. And post run feels really good too. I think this run felt better than my last runs back in March. I’m so anxious to start putting running miles on my feet and seeing what I can get back to. #running #heartsurgery #retiredlife by @stuff_jim_does

Post surgery life update. 10 weeks out from my valve job. I feel really good. Some residual soreness still and my lifting restrictions have gone to 20 lb. But I now have an atrial flutter. Not unheard of post surgery. They’re going to shock my heart in a couple of weeks to get it back into a normal rhythm. Good thing is I have no symptoms. Met with my cardiologist last week and still no running until 12 weeks post surgery and the flutter taken care of. I can walk all I want though. And I have, roughly 150 miles since the surgery. I’ve also gone back into the gym. Primarily leg work but that feels pretty good too. I can’t wait to be able to get back running. I’m looking forward to the work necessary to get back in to shape. #openheartsurgery #valvejob by @stuff_jim_does

Did the St. Croix River Crossing Loop trail today with a stop in Stillwater for lunch. It was a gorgeous day for it. About 5 miles total. Also Fridays sunset from our yard was fire. #wisconsinlife #sunsets #retiredlife by @stuff_jim_does

My son took me flying this morning. We flew around the local area and circled the house a couple of times. It was fun. #flying #koeo by @stuff_jim_does
