I can’t believe it’s been two years since we completed VRDLK: Family of Vurdulak! In this intense scene, our flawed but fierce protagonist, the Marquise D'Ufre, faces off against the terrifying Vurdulak. Fun fact: this was the first scene we animated as a test, making sure @wrenmcdonald ’s character designs would shine. VRDLK is part of the horror anthology series Red Iron Road and is now streaming on Amazon Prime, Tubi, and more. This project was my first co-production with Lakeside Animation Studios—and definitely not the last! Since its release, VRDLK has won 8 awards, including Best Animated Short at @filmquest and Audience Choice Awards from @luscafilmfest Fantastic, @newyorkcityhorrorfilmfest Film Fest, and GIRAF International Festival of Animation. by @style5tv
Our In The Heat marathon continues—think the 12 Days of Christmas, but with four days of crime, mystery, and Santa Claus chaos! In today’s clip, Santa shows up at Lenochka’s home… but it’s definitely not the cozy holiday visit he was expecting. by @style5tv
The polar vortex may be letting up, but the snow is still falling—so here’s another wintry clip from He-Man: First Snowfall! ❄️ This scene is a special one for me. After both He-Man and Skeletor are disarmed, the fight shifts into a bare-knuckle brawl, ending with a quick Skeletor gag that still makes me smile. I hold this sequence close to my heart—it might even be my favorite scene I’ve ever animated. It’s not perfect, but it’s raw, intense, and still makes me proud to this day. A big shout-out to @margaretdean938 for believing in me and making this project possible. I’ll always be grateful. If you missed the first clip, take a scroll back. And if you want to see the full film, it’s up on my Vimeo. by @style5tv
Looking forward to moderating a panel on The Art of Storytelling in Animation at this year's @reelworld Film Festival + Summit! I'll be chatting with Dianna Basso, Trevor Hierons, and @sloan_stephen about all things animation, storytelling, and the creative process. Should be a fun conversation! If you're around on October 21, come hang out! by @style5tv
PART 3 of THIS WAS NOT THE PLAN. At 13, there were rules about crying. Boys didn’t cry. (especially in public) So when the ski patroller asked, “Are you crying?” Saying yes felt like saying uncle. I was crying. I just didn’t want to admit it. by @style5tv
Pretty cool to have The Death of James included in Frame by Frame: Animation in Ottawa at the Ottawa Art Gallery! The exhibition celebrates Ottawa’s animation history and the artists, studios and films that have been a part of it. As an Ottawa-born filmmaker, I’m pretty happy to have The Death of James included in the show. I’ll also be at TAC this year and attending the TAC reception for the exhibition on Wednesday, September 23 from 2:30 to 3:30pm at the Ottawa Art Gallery. If you’re at TAC, come by, check out the exhibition and say hi! Frame by Frame: Animation in Ottawa Ottawa Art Gallery September 19, 2026 to March 14, 2027 by @style5tv
David Has A Right is a short animation by @style5tv that will screen at our festival. “David and his friends were just walking home when, out of nowhere, they were forced to defend themselves” by @style5tv
PART 2 of THIS WAS NOT THE PLAN. I took a bad fall on the ski hill. Then my friend Dave Williams showed up. Stay tuned for Part 3: Ski patrol arrives. by @style5tv
Some of y’all might not know this, but I skied in Grade 9. It did not go well. I’ve been working on a graphic novel about dumb little stories from my childhood and the things that ended up shaping me. It’s called This Was Not the Plan. Here’s Part 1. by @style5tv
Part 3. The final chapter of my Canadian Tire money saga. I was rich. Then I went for a bike ride. More dumb little Ottawa stories coming soon. by @style5tv
I've spent years telling stories through animation. These comics are my excuse to tell the smaller ones. Part two of my Canadian Tire story. I had exactly twenty-five dollars. I felt unstoppable. (to be continued) by @style5tv
I've spent most of my career telling stories through animation. Lately I've been having fun telling smaller ones through comics. Nothing dramatic. Just dumb little memories from growing up in Ottawa. Small stories, embarrassing memories, and the weird things that felt huge when I was a kid. To be continued... by @style5tv
