New Episode Alert! 🚨

Nick and Tejas sit down with Dr. Adam Snowden, a first-year ophthalmology resident at the University of Kentucky, who Tejas first connected with at ARVO.

They talk about what first drew Adam to ophthalmology, and how he builds meaning into that path through the concept of tzedakah — the obligation to practice justice, fairness, and service to others rooted in family legacy. Adam also opens up about not matching his first cycle, why a research year was ultimately the most rewarding choice for him, and what ultimately helped him land at a program that felt like the right fit — including how he approached away rotations and signals.

SubEye Episode 2 - “Beyond the Match: Creativity, Confidence, and Mindset.USMLE (ft. Haider Sarwar, MD)” is now up on Spotify!

Have you ever wondered how creativity, confidence, and a few very memorable cat videos can shape a path into ophthalmology? In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. Haider Sarwar, a recent graduate of the University of Colorado Anschutz and incoming PGY-1 ophthalmology resident at the University of Colorado, where he reflects on the role of self-confidence in the match process, and discusses what it means to become your own biggest fan.

We also talk about his brainchild, @mindset.usmle, the instagram account that started as a way of bridging medical education with Gen Z sensibilities that grew into something much bigger — and helped him reinforce his passion for educational access worldwide.

We’re excited to bring you this as the second episode of SubEye, hosted by Tejas Sekhar and Nicholas Pizzo, two medical students with a shared passion for ophthalmology. Tune in to hear the full conversation!
