There’s something truly magical about lining up on an airport runway knowing you have an entire mile to yourself & no speed limit.

This weekend meant more to me than most people realize.

For 18 months, I’ve been talking nonstop about competing at The Texas Mile.

I was supposed to go last October but life had other plans.

My Dad got really sick. Racing took a backseat and I spent those last couple of months making up for lost time. Then on January 31st, just the two of us in the room, he took his last breath as I held his hand.

March registration opened, but emotionally I wasn’t ready.

When October registration opened I told myself I was going no matter what. So I officially registered with no idea how I’d pull this off in two months, including an 18 hour drive from Florida.

And this past weekend, I didn’t just show up.

I took first place in my class.🖤🏁
