36 years ago today, my amazing dad passed away from a brain tumor. Until Brother Bill was killed, it was the worst day of my life. But over the years, there was a little sunshine in the day because it was also my amazing Uncle George's birthday. He was dad's youngest sibling and only about 10 years older than my oldest brothers. This meant he was the favorite of ALL of the cousins (and there were A LOT of us!). The last picture is my uncle. I'm remembering all of these wonderful men today. My dad, Bill, my Brother Bill, and Uncle George. I take a great deal of comfort in knowing they are all together and sending us love and strength and humor. Miss you guys! by @sueinbzn

I’m starting a new adventure.

I’m creating a new professional social media identity. It’ll be a place to say what I want 😂without worrying so much about the business identity.

I plan to post about pediatric medicine, but also the many other things that I love: spending time with my incredible family, foraging, making quilts and clothes and all the things, mindfulness games, and creating more meaningful connections with my people in and out of medicine.

Please follow along!

Can’t seem to stop crying today, maybe inspired by the heavens. We are not allowed to speak openly on social media at this time, but someday that will be different.

For now, remember the good man that my brother was.

We miss you, Bill. We feel you standing beside us. by @sueinbzn

There is no end to the heart break of this process. by @sueinbzn

Giant thanks to our dearest friends, Mike and Holger, for letting us crash their German vacation this last week. We’ve had no energy to plan or even certainty that we could be away for a week but tagging along seemed more doable.

We ate our way across the country from Martina and Roland’s in Adelmannsdorf, to Nicki and Kurt’s in Gera, to Dresden, to Ansbach, to Felix and Charlie’s in Neuendettelsau, to Nürnberg, to Rothenburg with Christina and Harald, to Dinkelsbrühl, and back to the best schnitzel in Adelmannsdorf with Christian and Stefan.

And we got to speak tons of German with everyone. Especially enjoyed talking to Michel (11) and Bela (8), Felix and Charlie’s kids, who are learning English, and the old folks, Holger’s dad and stepmom, who don’t speak much of any English. This was one of the biggest highlights of the week for me.

Not as much swimming as usual due to chilly temps but managed one day in the pool and got sun therapy every day to stay connected to Bill and my family back in Montana.

Glad to be home after an epic travel day filled with major delays all around that allowed us to make every connection!

Cant wait to go again. Thanks, M&H, for taking such good care of us!❤️❤️❤️

Tonight in Dresden, I’m remembering my dad and my big brother. Life is hard and life is beautiful. by @sueinbzn

14 weeks ago my Big Brother Bill was murder by his ex-girlfriend. It seems the reason is because he was happy and moving on.

This weekend, we celebrate the life he lived at one of his favorite places on earth, Mount High! We’ll be gathered again like every Memorial Day weekend for the last 30+ years—— rain or shine, or snow, or hail…or rain! This year though, Brother Bill has arranged for a few dry, warm and sunny days just to remind us that we are still loved by him, as he is by us!

14 week ago, we could not have imagined that his murderer would still be walking free. Despite assurances from every level of law enforcement in the county and state, and from the Park County Attorney, they have yet to write her arrest warrant. This is coming, we are told. And the facts of the case are clear.

To complicate our grief further, his murderer, Ann Brooks, feld the state of Montana over a month ago. It appears she has no plan to return but we are assured she will be located and returned to face her punishment.

Sadly, this special weekend will have a cast of ongoing hyper-vigilance as we wait for justice to be serviced.
And we understand the words, “justice delayed is justice denied.”

If you knew our brother, you know he loved family and the outdoors more than anything. Please take a minute this weekend to wish him well, and to say a little prayer for all of us who miss him so dearly.

Thank you to Detective Joseph for all of his hard work and caring toward our family. Thank you to Count Attorney Glenn for being thorough and careful to insure a successful prosecution. We pray for you and everyone in the justice system who does this critical work.
