I live in my heart
Destined to arrive here now
Not knowing beyond

✨

Having a powerful time on this artist residency with @thefolkist. As part of my time here I’m learning several fiddle tunes a day, playing cello for an hour each day, yoga every morning, doing an online ballet class a day (didn’t see that coming and loving it - photo is post class), learning new dances to call, journaling, writing poetry, contemplating life, and reading Harry Potter.

What’s your favorite tune to play right now that I should learn?! (Scottish, Cape Breton, Irish)

So far this week (since Tuesday) I’ve fully/finally learned:
The Spey in Spate
Lost in the Loop
Paddy Fahey’s
Reel Béatrice
The Leading Role
The Kerfunken Jig
Christmas Eve

Let me know in the comments!

This Celtic fairy has been sitting on this for a bit, but I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been working with the KVMR Celtic Festival in Grass Valley, CA as this year’s Celtic Festival Coordinator.

This is the festival and community (in the county I grew up in) that played a huge role in shaping who I am today.

For now, this position runs through the end of May (the festival itself is May 1–3), but the future feels bright and full of huge, exciting potential with this wonderful team.

It’s been an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience and mentorship while helping with a festival that brings together thousand of audience members, several dozens of vendors, incredible area managers, 500 volunteers, a green team, deals with hundreds of contracts, and hires many of my favorite international trad bands.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at this year’s festival. Kids 11 and under get in free this year, and we’re always looking for more volunteers!

Get ready to hear a lot more about this festival from me from here on out!
