We are pleased to announce Jake Trujillo’s solo exhibition Refrain, opening
October 2nd at our gallery on Canyon Road!

This show features Jake’s largest paintings made to date, inviting the viewer to feel the Southwest landscape’s surrounding presence in interior spaces.

Santa Fe oil painter Jake Trujillo’s solo exhibition Refrain is concerned with observation of repetition. Trujillo’s new body of work is entirely composed of familiar Santa Fe vistas whose emphasis is on the passage of time and seasonality—airy Winter scenes sit alongside distant Summer thunderheads and Autumnal foreground passages in brown and orange. To pause and observe keenly the changes in the land is an exercise in communion and restraint, and in this sense “refrain” refers not only to the musicality of repetition and theme, but to taking a moment of stasis to see distinctions within the presupposed.

Refrain will be on view from
October 2nd to November 30th, 2026 at

Sandra Jo Hackbarth’s Hand Woven, Hand Spun Churro Wool Weavings. Sandra Jo writes “As co-founder of Martinez Studio, I designed this work with ample open areas to allow and encourage each weaver to respond with their own rhythm of color nuance. Variations in the hand dyed, hand spun wool and real time decisions while weaving meant each work carries its own distinct presence. The energy embedded by so many humans is a big part of what makes these objects call out to be touched.”

See you all tonight for the opening reception for Refrain: A solo exhibition of Jake Trujillo’s stunning Santa Fe vistas in all their seasonal glory. 5-7 PM 223 1/2 Canyon Road. by @sunanddustgallery

Jake Trujillo’s “Aspen Vista, Autumn 2026”. This stunning large work from Trujillo is in his solo exhibition “Refrain” on view now in our Canyon Road gallery.
As autumn is upon us, the season is giving us the chance to be re-enchanted by our landscapes in the warm fall light. This reminds us how often Jake’s paintings give us those same moments to stop and breathe and be grateful to be enriched by the all goodness that it is to be in relationship with beauty and wonder.

The work of Billy Bilbro.
Bilbro writes about their work
“What are the deeper connections that bind us together? How do we remain vulnerable in a perilous and precarious world? What inhibits or enhances connection?” This body of work reflects the tension that exists between connection and isolation, presence and dissociation, vulnerability and protection, inner and outer worlds, humans and nature…all as we stumble towards our own personal conclusion. The work is intended to invite viewers to examine their own relationships with vulnerability, asking how we might stay open-hearted while navigating the complexities of contemporary existence”.

Lori Swartz has long been known for her brilliant mark making.
In her series of ceramic vessels she dazzles us again, with her color mastery and unique gestural marks coupled with shapes layered alongside word incantations. The drenched colors in these vases give us the something to ground into. These pieces are often four sided, and generous in story.
