The history behind this unique octagonal structure 🪷✨ Built in 1812 during the reign of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, this octagonal pavilion was designed by royal architect Devendra Moolachary. It served as a place for the king to address his people and watch processions and traditional events. Today, its distinctive design remains one of the most recognisable symbols of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. From intricate carvings to historic spaces, every part of the temple reveals another piece of its fascinating past🇱🇰 📍Kandy : #visitsrilanka #kandysrilanka #templeoftoothrelic #museums by @sundayyblur

For a few precious nights, the whole Kandy city seems to pause, strangers gather, streets glow, and an age-old tradition comes alive once again. ✨ Perhaps that’s the magic of the Esala Perahera… it doesn’t just fill the streets, it fills the heart. And somehow, every year, amidst the lights, the drums, and the crowds, it leaves behind another memory to hold onto 🤍 #esala #esalaperahera #kandy by @sundayyblur
