Super Leisure - Cerulean (Lyric Video) Directed and shot by: @matthewfitzpatrick Lyric animation by: @michaelbrekka Written, recorded and mixed by: @michaelbrekka Mastered by: @johnnyo Cerulean is about learning to live with grief. I lost my dad to cancer in 2019. It was a shocking, scarring, and traumatic experience that I still feel today. I’ve come to learn that grief is something you learn to live with over time, rather than something you heal from. Lyrically, the song is about not knowing when to express or to hide the pain of grief. Paired with specific details that seem to trigger grief the hardest for me. I’m so grateful to hear from those who have found this song relatable or cathartic. Lyrics: Do you think you could drop me home? I think the grief is hitting harder than the Wellbutrin alone. Because the truth of it is, I still haven’t healed from this. And as a matter of fact. No one deserves to go out like that I could paint myself cerulean, or just bottle it down. But your cologne and dry-cleaning, have got me breaking down. Still call your voicemail some evenings, so I don’t forget your voice. I could paint myself cerulean, as if I had a choice. I could paint myself cerulean, because you didn’t make it to the morning. Still call your voicemail some evenings, so I don’t forget your voice. I could paint myself cerulean, as if I had a choice. by @superleisure.wav

Happy @bandcamp Friday! Here is the first Super Leisure shirt, designed by me. Merch available at link in bio. Thanks for supporting and streaming Cerulean since its release! Excited to share more new music this year. -Michael by @superleisure.wav
Here is a little bit about how I wrote and recorded Cerulean. Part 1 of probably 3. In this part I talk about how I wrote and layered the instruments of this song. Starting with a simple drum groove and building off that I have to edit these reels down to 3ish minutes. So, if you have any questions about production or anything specific, feel free to ask me in the comments. I love talking about production approach and the creative process. Also, listen with headphones! by @superleisure.wav
