✨ 1,000 bottles. 🥹🧡

When I started Super Me last year, Calm & Focus was very much the centre point of my research and development. It was a true passion project — something I created to help myself function better, and because I genuinely believed in the potential of these beautiful plant extracts.

And now… 1,000 bottles have found their way into homes! 🥹

What makes me even more excited is how many of those customers have come back for another bottle. That means more to me than I can say. 🥰

Calm & Focus combines saffron and bacopa — two plants that have been the subject of fascinating research around mood, attention, focus and cognitive function.

Saffron in particular has produced some really interesting clinical research in the area of ADHD, while bacopa has a long history of research supporting memory, learning and cognitive function.

But beyond the research, I absolutely love hearing from the people actually using it.

The adult who found something to support them when they were burnt out, stressed and simply needing a little extra help.

The parents who come back and tell me they've noticed a difference in their children.

The families who feel it helps make their days a little less of a roller coaster by bringing this little bottle of goodness into their daily routine.

They keep coming back — and honestly, it makes my heart so happy. 💛

So today I'm celebrating 1,000 bottles — and every single person who has supported this little passion project along the way.

Thank you. Truly. 🧡

A Piece of Blue Sea Glass 💙🌊

I found this piece of sea glass today while walking on the beach.

The excitement I get from finding a little treasure like this never wears thin. There’s something so magical about spotting a piece of colour amongst the sand and knowing it has travelled through the ocean to find its way to you.

And blue glass… rare indeed. 💙

As I held it, I started thinking about life.

This piece of glass has been broken and discarded. It’s been tossed around by waves, buried in sand, knocked against rocks and worn down by time. Its edges have softened, its surface has changed — and somehow, it is more beautiful now than it probably ever was when it was new.

We all have that voice inside that tells us we’re not worthy, not beautiful enough, not good enough…

But maybe this little piece of sea glass can remind you today that you are.

To the right people, you are worthy. You are beautiful. You are enough. 💙

The things life puts us through can wear us down, but they can also give us depth, softness and beauty. They become part of our story.

The emotional attachment to things can run deep. It might look like “just a piece of glass” to someone else, but the memories, the meaning and the feeling attached to it can make it so much more than that.

Maybe that’s why finding this today felt particularly special.

Because even when something has been broken, it doesn’t mean it has lost its beauty.

Sometimes the pieces that have travelled the furthest, been through the most and survived being broken are the ones worth holding onto.

Just like this little piece of blue sea glass. 💙

Worn by the waves.
Changed by the journey.
Still beautiful. 🌊 by @superme.au

🧬 I finally looked deeper into my genetics... and it was the MOST interesting thing EVER!!

I ordered a saliva DNA test through Ancestry.com. It cost around $150 AUD, took about 8 weeks, and I have to admit... I found the ancestry side of it just as fascinating as the health insights.

Apparently, I'm 1% Icelandic! 😂

After downloading my raw DNA data and running a methylation report, I discovered I have MTHFR A1298C +/+ along with variations in COMT and MAO-A – genes involved in pathways related to neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline.

One thing I found fascinating is that we inherit one copy of most genes from our mum and one from our dad. Your results can often show whether you inherited a variant from one parent (+/-) or from both (+/+). I inherited the same MTHFR A1298C variant from both Mum and Dad. It's thought to be the 'hunter-gatherer' SNP AKA ADHD.

✨ Hyperfocus & creativity
✨ A brain that runs fast
✨ Anxiety during prolonged stress
✨ Lifelong sleep struggles
✨ Sensitivity to hormonal changes
✨ I've often found I don't tolerate some medications and highly processed foods as well as others

But the biggest thing I learnt wasn't about my genes...

It was about my lifestyle.

When I'm eating whole, unprocessed foods, sleeping well, getting sunshine and vitamin D, exercising and looking after my nervous system...

I'm calm.
I'm focused.
I'm productive.
I'm creative.
I'm trail blazing.

When those foundations start to slip—poor sleep, processed foods, less movement and more stress—it's like my wheels fall off.

The biggest lesson?

Stimulants won't help. I have SNPs that affect sleep and anxiety.

They reminded me how important the foundations are.

That's why I've become so passionate about personalised health. Not because our genes determine our future, but because understanding our own biology can help us make better choices.

💚 Our genes may influence us, but our daily habits have an incredible ability to support how those genes are expressed.

Small daily choices really do create big changes.

🍫 A sweet treat without the sugar crash 🍓🫐

One of the biggest changes I made while recovering from a slipped disc and two bulging discs was giving up refined sugar and alcohol.

I know everyone is different, but I noticed my body felt less inflamed, my pain gradually settled, and my healing improved. It made me realise just how much what we eat can influence how we feel.

So many people are living with chronic pain, and while food isn't a cure, it's worth understanding that:

✨ Refined sugar can promote inflammation by increasing inflammatory chemicals in the body and causing blood sugar spikes, which may worsen pain and stiffness in some people.

✨ Alcohol can also increase inflammation, disrupt quality sleep (which is when much of our healing happens), contribute to dehydration, and make it harder for the body to repair damaged tissues.

That's why, when I want something sweet, I now reach for this instead...

🤎 95–100% dark chocolate
🥜 Organic peanut butter
🍓 Frozen organic raspberries
🫐 A frozen organic blueberry

The dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, the peanut butter provides healthy fats and protein, and the berries offer fibre, vitamins and natural sweetness. Together they satisfy my sweet tooth without the sugar rollercoaster.

For me, this isn't about restriction—it's about giving my body the nutrients it needs to heal while still enjoying delicious food.

If you're dealing with chronic pain, it might be worth looking not just at your treatment plan, but also at what you're putting on your plate every day.

💛 Food can't fix everything, but it can be a powerful tool to support your body's natural healing.

🍕 Batch par-baking my synthetic folic acid free pizza bases! ❤️

I'm using exactly the same recipe as my bread loaf – I simply select the Pizza Dough setting on my bread maker.

✨ Here's my easy prep routine:

• Divide the dough into 5 balls and place on baking paper.
• Flatten each one with a silicone or stainless steel spatula use light cover of olive oil if sticking to implements.
• Bake at 180°C for 4–5 minutes.
• Allow to cool, on a rack remove the hot baking paper to prevent moisture. Cut new baking paper then stack and freeze. ❄️

When pizza night rolls around, simply pull one out, add your favourite toppings, and bake again at 180°C for around 13 minutes.

The result? Delicious, nutritious, family-friendly pizzas made with ingredients I feel good about serving. 🍕😋

Simple. Convenient. Homemade goodness ready whenever you need it. ❤️

Three weeks. Countless loaves. Plenty of failures.

But I have done it. ❤️🍞

The family approves this one, and I have finally managed to remove synthetic folic acid from the bread we eat at home.

This loaf means so much more to me than bread.

I have seen a huge improvement in one of my children especially. He's the kid who picks things up quickly, loves sports, needs to be moving all the time and can hyperfocus on the things he loves. I often joke that he would have been the perfect hunter-gatherer in caveman times.

Since making dietary changes in our home, removing all synthetic folic acid, I have watched him change. He seems more relaxed and settled. His inflammation and Sever's symptoms have disappeared. The stimming, pulling faces and making loud noises he once used to ground himself have become so much less noticeable. He has way less ADHD symptoms.

Most of all, he is glowing from the inside out. He is radiating health. He has a sparkle in his eyes, endless energy and a calmness I hadn't seen before. Watching him thrive has become one of the biggest motivations for me to keep learning and questioning.

Learning about the difference between folate and folic acid has been an important part of this journey for me. Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9 found in foods, while folic acid is the synthetic form added to many supplements and fortified foods.

Our bodies contain around 30 trillion cells, and folate is essential for DNA production and cell division in every single one of them. For families with MTHFR gene variants, like mine, understanding the form of folate we consume has become incredibly important.

During 2 of my 3 pregnancies I took synthetic folic acid because I believed I was doing the right thing. I had severe anxiety, migranes, breastfeeding issues and post natal depression. The 3rd I took a methylated folate and had no issues at all.

I don't claim to have all the answers.

But I do believe in asking questions. Reading labels. Understanding ingredients. And making choices that feel right for my family. 🤎🍞

It's a wild one today rain is holding off so come see me soon ☂️☁️ by @superme.au

I’ve just had a huge WTF moment reading Dirty Genes for the second time… 🤯

Like many Aussie parents, I genuinely thought I was doing all the “right” things:

✔️ wholemeal bread
✔️ wraps
✔️ healthy cereals
✔️ muesli bars
✔️ pasta
✔️ leafy greens
✔️ healthy lunchboxes

Then I realised how much synthetic folic acid my kids may have been consuming every single day through fortified foods and supplements.

As I’ve started researching MTHFR and methylation, it’s raised so many questions for me as a mum.

Especially when I look back at:

• chronic anxiety and migraines during and post pregnancy
• allergies and sensitivities in my children
• possible genetic factors
• the sheer amount of fortified foods in Australia since mandatory fortification began in 2009

I’m not writing this to create fear or say folic acid is “bad” for everyone.

I’m writing this because I think many parents simply don’t realise:

👉 how widespread synthetic folic acid fortification is
👉 how many supplements also contain it
👉 and that some people may process it differently

Most importantly, I don’t believe health is about chasing the next “magic supplement.”

It’s about getting back to basics:
🥚 eggs for choline
🥬 leafy greens
🍖 slow-cooked meats and broths
🌿 less processing
☀️ less stress
❤️ more connection and nourishment

Maybe wellness isn’t found in extremes.

Maybe it’s somewhere between modern science and old-world wisdom.

I’ve written a full blog post sharing my thoughts, experiences and questions around MTHFR, folic acid fortification and parenting in Australia.
