A boat safari on the Chobe river does give wonderful opportunities to see wildlife from new angles. In this case we were so lucky to be able to watch this elephant family enjoy a drink, mud and play session at the river bank.

Last year we arrived very early on our flight from Zürich to Cape Town and we therefore took the long route to Hermanus. We spent some time at the penguin colony at Betty’s Bay and found this beautiful Karoo Prinia. I can absolutely recommend the road from Gordan‘s Bay to Hermanus. It is wonderfully scenic with beautiful places to visit among which are of course the penguin colony and Harold Porter Botanical Garden.

We were resting on our deck at Nkuhlu Tented camp between game drives when I noticed a flash of colour in the corner of my eyes. I spotted and then captured this collared Sunbird in a bush just next to our tent ( No 3). We also spotted a scarlet breasted sunbird which I unfortunately won’t show due to the abundance of sticks it was hiding behind when I captured it.

We found a pride of lions a few years ago on the S41 between the N‘wanetzi and the S100 on a giraffe kill. In this scene the male was walking towards some shade while the female was moving towards the kill. I love how they seem to exchange a greeting with their tails.
