Sushi in the sky 🍣🌿
.
Tucked on top of the Sanctuary Hotel in the heart of the Theater District, Sushi Lab Rooftop feels like a secret garden hiding above Midtown. Overhead greenery, soft lighting, and city views, with covered, heated seating so it works in any season.
.
We went all in on the Lab Experiment, a 15-piece chef-led omakase from Executive Chef Frankie Chen, where you let the kitchen take the wheel and just enjoy the ride. 👨‍🍳
.
Here’s everything we tried:
🍸 Pineapple Bourbon Sour
🍸 Cosmopolitan (nonalcoholic)
🥔 Taro Chips
🍣 The Lab Experiment (15-piece omakase)
🥩 Wagyu Beef Roll
🌶️ Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll
🍰 Green Tea Cheesecake
🍶 Sake to sip before heading out
.
Perfect for:
🎭 A pre-show dinner (you’re right in the Theater District)
❤️ Date night
👯 Dinner and drinks with friends

Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.

Found another beautiful hidden sushi rooftop in Midtown 🍣🌿✨

Beautiful views, plenty of space, a relaxed atmosphere, and incredibly fresh sushi prepared right in front of you.

But if you go, you HAVE to try the Truffled Seared Salmon — we loved it so much that we literally ordered it FOUR times 😂🤌🏼

They also offer omakase and have a special Monday deal 👀

NYC hidden gem you need to know about 🍣🏙️

We spent Gabi’s birthday at Sushi Lab Rooftop and this was EXACTLY the kind of date night we wanted. Cute, cozy, chill, amazing food and tucked away right in the middle of Midtown.

And I have to talk about the hospitality because the staff truly made the entire experience. They took such amazing care of us all night and even surprised Gabi for his birthday 🥹🤍 It’s always the people who take an experience from good to unforgettable.

And obviouslyyyy the sushi was insane. Everything we tried was so good.

If you’re in Midtown and haven’t been to Sushi Lab Rooftop yet, I’m putting you on. Such a cute date night spot, the food is out of this world, and the whole experience was a 10/10.

Eating sushi at a floral rooftop hits different 🌸😮‍💨 Take the elevator up to the 8th floor of the @sanctuaryhotel for @sushilab.nyc !
🥢What we ordered:
•Bluefin Toro Tartare
•Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice
•Hamachi Jalapeño
•Matcha Crunch Roll
•Scallop Maki Roll
•The Lab Experiment
•Chocolate cheesecake

Everything was delicious, but my favorite was definitely The Lab Experiment. It’s their $100, 15-course omakase. My favorite pieces were the A5 Wagyu with foie gras on toast, fresh uni, and otoro with caviar. 🥰

Save this for your next sushi date!

At the end of a long week, @sushilab.nyc was the perfect treat! On the rooftop of @sanctuaryhotel, this rooftop offers views of midtown Manhattan paired with the some of the most creative omakase in the city! Sitting at the counter is the way to go, and we loved seeing the chefs making each of the pieces. We opted for the 15 piece Lab Experiment, which included some decadent pieces topped with Caviar, Uni, and Wagyu. It was so hard to pick favorites, but these five stole my heart (and the camera)!

Omakase in the sky 🌿🍣 Tucked at the top of the @sanctuaryhotel in Midtown, on a garden terrace with greenery overhead and the city just below is @sushilab.nyc. You can pick from a la carte options or two omakase options. The Lab Experiment, 15 courses for $100 or the Chef’s Selection, 12 courses for $69
I chose The Lab Experiment, here’s what to expect:
🍽️ Two starters to open, one elevated with fresh truffle
🍣 A first round of 4 nigiri, then 4 more after that
🥩 3 premium pieces including wagyu and uni
🌊 The showstopper, a build-your-own handroll of tuna, uni, and caviar finished with gold leaf
🍵 Matcha cheesecake to finish
The staff come right to your table and walk you through what everything is, and they were so kind!

You can also get cooked dishes like their wagyu burger, honey soy glazed wings, and truffle shrimp pasta.

The space itself is stunning with lush greenery and soft lighting tucked above the city, the kind of spot that feels hidden even in the middle of Midtown. Go for a night when you want to feel a little special.
