What does it really mean to gain “real-world experience” at university? For Business School student and @sussexbusinesssoc President, Elena Khamitova (BSC Marketing and Management), it meant planning and delivering a 250-guest Student Society Spring Ball at the Amex Stadium, home to @officialbhafc Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, our campus neighbours. It also meant managing a £13k budget, negotiating with suppliers, coordinating five societies, selling out tickets, and leading a major event from scratch. Over four months, a student-led team turned ambition into reality, proving that university societies can be more than social spaces — they can become powerful platforms for leadership, teamwork, creativity, and professional growth. 💬 “Once you’ve signed a £10k contract, stepping back is not an option.” 💬 “It was the closest thing to a real job I’ve done as a student — and the most rewarding.” Learn how our Sussex students developed career-ready skills in leadership, marketing, stakeholder management, negotiation, budgeting, and event delivery — all while creating one of the biggest student events of the year. 👉 Read the full story - link in bio ⚽ BONUS FOR SUSSEX STUDENTS - FREE FOOTBALL MATCH ⚽ As part of Brighton & Hove Albion FC’s support for the Society Spring Ball, our Sussex students can claim FREE tickets for the Women’s match at the Amex Stadium on 16 May (1pm). 🎟 Use code: SOC3836tfz07 See link to ticket booking page in full article [link in bio and scroll down] (Up to 4 free tickets per transaction - while stocks last) #BusinessSchool #StudentLeadership #BeyondTheClassroom #StudentExperience #EventManagement #UniversityOfSussex #CareerSkills #WomenInLeadership by @sussexbusinesssoc
