Opening tomorrow at the SVA Flatiron Gallery: “Cybernetic Gems,” a survey of four decades of artistic exploration and innovation by alumni and students of @sva_mfaca. On view October 31 - November 23. 💎

Angelina Almukhametova’s No Winners in a Nuclear War (2025) “reimagines neon as a language for catalyzing critical discourse around this urgent planetary message. The sounds of the neon works reveal, in real time, the electromagnetic pulses emanating from transformers as they produce illumination, giving sensory form to the underlying energy of illumination.” —written by curator Kacie Lees.

Check out this piece, among many other light-based artworks, in “A Vivid Blur” — on view at SVA Chelsea Gallery through October 30, 2026.

Open Monday–Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm, at 601 West 26th Street, Suite 1502, NYC. by @sva_galleries

“As a former student worker at the galleries, you never imagine that one day you’ll be the person selecting the works and calling the shots.”

Kacie Lees (MFA 2012 @svamfafinearts) is the curator of “A Vivid Blur,” a group exhibition currently on view at the SVA Chelsea Gallery, through Friday, October 30. Featuring a dozen artists working in neon, holography, plasma, projection, and analog photography, the show treats light as a material and examines how perception is constructed.

In a Q&A, Lees (@kacielees) walks us through her curatorial process, from choosing works that change as viewers approach them to how her MFA thesis led to this exhibition. She also shares what she’s working on next.

Read the full interview at the link in our bio and join Lees this Friday, October 2, from 3:00 to 5:00pm for a free, hands-on mirror-making workshop at the gallery. Bring a glass item of your own to silver; no experience necessary. RSVP required, and space is limited. Register at the link in our bio.
