Had a wonderful weekend celebrating the O’Briens!

No words to describe the joy seeing @kristenleighm smile from ear to ear all day long. by @swimbikerun1013

Out of pocket for a bit while we explore the Italian countryside with @cyclinghouse.

Plus some very important gelato stops along the way. by @swimbikerun1013

I did it. Finally had a race where everything seemed to come together. Maybe I’m meant to race cold (sorry @jcandi2193 looks like more races where we see Canada). Fun part of racing for a while is as hard as it may seem, chances are I’ve done something harder before - at least @140_6girl reminds of that in my lead up to race day.

Frigid swim. Somehow it got colder halfway through.

Tough headwinds on the bike, but awesome descents. Rode smart and enjoyed a beautiful course.

Run left me speechless. I was genuinely shocked at the pace and how good I felt. Held on and pushed hard that final mile for the best 1/2 I’ve run in a 70.3 and a 5:57 race. Never expected either. Went out to have fun and just do the thing I love.

Couldn’t have done it without the support of @jcandi2193 - especially when I decided to buy nice wool socks to make into arm warmers and then never use them.

Was great to have @140_6girl & the @evolvetriathlon team there reminding me of all the training I put in. Sam, thank you for getting me to the start and working around a crazier than ever travel schedule.

Always proud to rep my @foherco kit, though picking which one to race in is maybe the hardest decision of the day. Love the many pockets but more so the reminder we’re all connected and to chat up my fellow racers, smile and say something nice whether passed or passing someone.

Oh and Duckie made it to the race too. IYKYK

Now for off season! by @swimbikerun1013

Wishing I was back in Cambridge riding bikes and enjoying the sunrise over Choptank. Best Girls Weekend with @hollytriz. There was British Bake Off, rabbit holes of research, self-made root beer floats, a lot of midday workouts and no jellyfish (helps that we avoided open water). I think I could be an amateur athlete full time. by @swimbikerun1013

Sometimes the winding road gets you the best views. by @swimbikerun1013

Hard to believe it’s been 4 years by your side - possibly half wheeling when necessary to keep up. by @swimbikerun1013

Left expectations at the door and focused on the joy of the sport and the gratitude of getting to do this. Couldn’t do it without my forever Sherpa @jcandi2193 and the best tiny cheer squad in town (Also best the best parents who managed three kiddos around the race! @morganne_joy & @matt.hockett13 ) #kitthatconnects by @swimbikerun1013

Always grateful for that flat tire at tri camp. by @swimbikerun1013

What a race.

It was amazing to be there with friends and family and to have so much support. The course was incredible. The crowds energizing and running along the beach just perfection.

The mental game here was rough. I struggled since qualifying as to whether I really belonged at this race - sure I got the roll down spot, but was I really good enough to be there. Most of the time when people asked my next race I never mentioned it was Worlds. The anxiety ahead of this was next level. @jcandi2193 was the best in supporting me through all the lows of those moments and reminding me I worked hard to get here.

Never in my life have I been so worried about a cut off time. Even when I hobbled to the end of IMMD. But that bike course took all of me to get through- 5900 ft of elevation, technical descents and headwinds made for a course that had me begging to get to the run in one piece before the cutoff.

Run course was a mix of beach front and town energy. Could not have been more beautiful. Mentally was grateful to just be on it, running, and decided two things 1) my only goal for the run was to stay happy and 2) someone had to finish last. While I didn’t quite finish last it was certainly humbling to watch so my incredible women pass me by.

Immensely grateful to my support crew - there and virtually - to get me to the finish line.

@140_6girl asked if I’d take a slot again knowing what I know now. And without hesitation I would. The chance to be part of something this epic was inspiring.

Now for a rest week and plans into 2026. :)

Edit: I only share the idea of not feeling qualified for those who also struggle with the imposter syndrome of life to know there are many of us who do and it’s okay. by @swimbikerun1013

It’s race weeeeeeek! All the nerves. Some shopping should help to calm those, right? by @swimbikerun1013

Triathlon. Travel. And the value of the pivot.

Sometimes your grand plan does not, well, go as planned. So there is Plan B. And C and D and well today I may have gotten to Plan G. But more than changing plans it’s pivoting in the moment to the next best thing. I’ve had enough races go off the rails - weather, jellyfish, back cramps - to learn the importance of knowing what levers you can pull and where you can keep moving forward. (Thanks @140_6girl for the 10+ yrs of tips and tricks).

Today’s that lesson was applied to travel. Storms on the east coast wrecked plans. So flight turned to train then plane. Then mid car ride to train delays changed things and suddenly that didn’t make sense so different flight to different city and a train from there. Continued checking opened up a flight to where I need to be. Not ideal. Missing flying with @hollytriz but hopefully making it to our epic trip fairly unscathed. 🤞🏻

Also: never check luggage if you can avoid it. Makes pivoting a whole lot easier! by @swimbikerun1013

@gorockford you sure know how to put on an @ironmanamericas race 🏃‍♀️

Wasn’t sure what to expect with 95 degree temps but have to give some 👏for the quick pivot up more aid stations on the hike, more ice on the run and cooling stations all around.

The crowd support was next level. I don’t think I went more that 5 miles without seeing people cheering on the bike. And “sprinkler alley” was the best part of the run.

Great to see so many @evolvetriathlon coaches and teammates out on the course making the miles more fun.

Surprisingly had so much fun. Passes @140_6girl around mile 5 on the run and said “I’m so happy”. Maybe it was become hadn’t crumbled in the heat. Maybe it was sprinkler alley vibes.

Walked away with a surprise spot to worlds. Guess I’m racing in Nov. now too! by @swimbikerun1013
