I do think there’s a growing awareness around the postnatal physio check these days, however I do have people coming in every week who say they’ve only just heard about it so just wanted to give a rundown on
what is involved in a Postnatal Mummy Check?

Check out the slides attached.

I recommend a Postnatal Physio Check for everyone whether you have had a vaginal or c-section birth or whether you are having any issues or not. You will benefit from one.

Hello there,

I’ve never really introduced myself properly on this page and have had some new followers recently so here goes! #aboutme

I started this account to help raise awareness around all things pelvic health for both women and men. I love my job and qualified as a physio over 20 years ago🙀. No 2 days are ever the same, no 2 clients are ever the same.

I have worked in various departments of hospitals, private clinics and with different sports teams over the years. My love of all things pelvic health began in 2007 when I started working in the Rotunda, Dublin. Since then I have complete further training in pelvic health focused courses. I moved back to Ireland over 3 years ago and now work @ebtcgalway. I am privileged that people trust me with what can be really quite sensitive and private ‘stuff’.

Now for some random things about me...

I have 2 daughters aged 17 and 14 👯‍♀️

I don’t like the taste but love the smell of coffee ☕️

I have lived and worked in Ireland, UK, USA, New Zealand and the UAE. 🇮🇪🇬🇧🇺🇸🇳🇿🇦🇪

I grew up on the west coast of Ireland in Clifden and always find the smell, sight and sound of the sea soothing. 🌊

Did I say I love my job, well I love my job!

Thanks for following my page!

Some say the jaw is a mirror of the pelvis and an imbalance in one can affect the other.

That’s because of connections from early on in embryo development, facial connections and the dura.

Relaxing the jaw can have a direct influence on the pelvic floor! This is an important tip for labour, relaxing the jaw will help relax the pelvic floor.

It would also be helpful to check in with the jaw and any release tension there if you experience any pain or tightness in the pelvis.

Let's change that stat. I often think everyone knows about pelvic health and what's normal, what's common, where and what help you can get because I'm right in the thick of it but it's not common knowledge. Pelvic floor dysfunction can be isolating, people don't always open up about issues related to pelvic health, it can have stigma attached or perhaps it's just not known that there is help available and you don't need to differ in silence.

You are here so I'm hoping you are aware of pelvic health physio and the benefits of it. Do spread the word. Let's normalise speaking up about pelvic health problems. Let's get the word out and spread awareness.

Let's not let women suffer unnecessarily for years on end. #helpisavailable by @sylviafarrellphysiogalway

Don't get comfortable with the discomfort of constipation. Pelvic health physios can help.
