Two weeks since the opening of Urban Living Rooms at CityCenterDC. 💙 Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life—especially Deputy Mayor Nina Albert, Gerren Price, Concetta Duncan, Timothy Lowery, Caitlin Berry, the jury, Melissa King, Ashley Arias, Sammy Vinh, Katie Bianco, JY, and everyone who joined us to celebrate the unveiling. A special thank you to the teams at CityCenterDC, Hines, and Design Foundry, along with all of the fabricators, engineers, installers, collaborators, Ángela Garcia, and friends whose dedication made this project possible. And thank you, Chris Bryan, for beautifully documenting both the installation and these memorable moments. Most of all, thank you to everyone who has visited, explored, and made the installation your own. Seeing the space come alive with people has been the greatest reward. As I shared at the opening, our differences are not what divide us—they are what unite us. Learn more about the installation through the 🔗 in my bio. #art #publicart #citycenterdc by @t4tung
Palmer Alley’s highly anticipated new look is officially here. ✨ The installation uses the living room as a lens to examine the many cultural influences, traditions, and lived experiences that have shaped the American story. Drawing on themes of architecture, design, immigration, music, craft, and popular culture, “Urban Living Rooms” celebrates the evolving definition of American style and the diverse communities that continue to shape it. Plan your visits all summer long to experience this incredible installation firsthand, and make sure to tag @CityCenterDC in your photos! #MyCityCenterDC #CityCenterDC by @t4tung
Congratulations to Tung Nguyen, winner of 250 Years of American Style. Tung Nguyen is a Vietnamese American artist and architect whose vision will soon transform Palmer Alley. His winning installation, Urban Living Rooms, is a site-specific work that explores American style through the lens of the living room as both a personal and collective space. The project reimagines the domestic interior as a reflection of identity, memory, and self-expression. A sincere thank you to every artist, designer, and creative practitioner who participated and shared their interpretations of American culture. The depth of talent and storytelling presented throughout the selection process was truly remarkable. Prepare to see Palmer Alley in an entirely new light. Stay tuned for details on the upcoming installation and the official unveiling of this landmark project. #MyCityCenterDC #CityCenterDC by @t4tung
