Story time!!

A woman I respect and think is pretty dope (who will remain nameless at her request🤣)texted me and said, “I submitted Play Cousins for a youth and family conference in Chicago.” Low key, I was just grateful for that she thought off me.

A few weeks later, I got an email from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation letting me know that I had been selected. 🤯

Fast forward a few months… I’m in CHICAGO! conference that’s helping me learn how to better serve Play Cousins and the families we support, but this conference is also making history.It’s the FIRST conference ever hosted at the OBAMA Center! 🙌🏾🔥

From an unexpected nomination to sitting in rooms where ideas, leadership, and community are shaping the future🤯I’m beyond grateful.

Sometimes God opens doors you didn’t even know existed.

Ever had to make an uneducated guess as to whether you should wait to be evacuated or if you should just go ahead and try to get one more night sleep in your home just in case?...this fire sucks and as much as I want to throw a tantrum and cry because this is incredible stressful I can't help but to be grateful because the amount of phone calls from folks checking on us, demanding that we evacuate, and offering a sofa or air mattress reminds me that even 3000k miles away from home we have folks who love and care.. provision. We are literally 2 blocks from the evacuation territory and about a mile from the actual fire🤯🤯.. Im going to have a good cry tonight but not for the reasons I would have thought... when you are at risk of losing everything you realize... that shit ain't about nothing 🤣 God,family, FRamily and community over everything.. not only are we safe but we are incredibly blessed... #ifitgetsworsetonightweareouttahere✌🏾 taken in Beautiful Simi Valley California by @playcousins_simi

Thank you for life, love, prayer, sacrifice, and support. Thank you for always showing up for us without us even asking. Sliding into town seemingly effortlessly like Mary Poppins whenever we need you 😂💕
Thank you for being intentional about being a daily presence in Kendall’s life — teaching her to cook on FaceTime, pouring into Cam’s laughter and prayer life even though you’re 3000 miles away.
Thank you for showing up for our friends and framily the same way you show up for us… always with love, prayer, wisdom, and genuine care.

I hope you have an absolutely amazing Mother’s Day!!! 🌷

Play Cousins was a whole vibe!! 💛✨

Thank you to Play Cousins and Distant Cousins for always showing up and showing OUT with so much love. We laughed, we played, we ate well, learned line dances, and listen… some of y’all even learned how to play spades 👀♠️🤣

This is what community feels like.

Cousins!!! 🎉 A celebration is in order… we’re OFFICIAL!

When we started meeting in September ’25 we didn’t know what to expect, but y’all have consistently shown up with love, laughter, and community. Because of that, making it official was a no-brainer. We made it official so Play Cousins can continue to show up for you.

So let’s party! 💃🏾🕺🏾

Congratulations to our son @camdencoley on this remarkable accomplishment 🙌🏿.

Not only is he maintaining a 3.6 GPA in high school and on pace to graduate a year early, he has also been nominated to the National Society of Leadership and Success at the college he attends through his dual enrollment program.

We’re incredibly proud of the humans we’re raising. Keep going son ☀️. The sky isn’t the limit—it’s just the view 🌅.

Play Cousins Black History Celebration was truly a dream realized. Watching our babies play together — ages not mattering — like they were cousins meeting up at Grandma’s house warmed my whole heart.

Meanwhile, the adults were deep in conversation about local politics and all things Black — laughing, sharing frustrations, and building in real time.

We closed out the night with Black History trivia (with a few dance breaks in between, of course).
