For this shoot, we wanted to highlight the militancy of the Black Panther Party, but also the community behind it. We often remember the berets, the leather jackets, and the armed patrols. But the Panthers also built community survival programs designed to make sure their people had what they needed to survive. The jacket Iโ€™m wearing features the logo of the Peopleโ€™s Free Food Program, which provided food and necessities to families and communities. Their Free Breakfast Program also provided meals to children before school. Because resistance wasnโ€™t only about confronting power. It was also about taking care of your people.
