The hardest part of trying something new is often not knowing what to expect.

& we know how easy it is to talk yourself out of something when you’re already feeling nervous!

That’s why we make time for you BEFORE your first class.

You deserve to feel like you belong here from day one.
& yes, that includes the odd socks & mismatched activewear. by @tabletop.pilates

If you want to feel inspired, this is worth the read👇🏽

A common thing we hear in class is: “I can’t do that.”

& our response is usually some version of:
“Yes you can. Let me coach you on the how.”

Because sometimes the story you’ve told yourself about what you can do, or what walking into a Pilates studio will be like, just needs a different experience.

You think you won’t be able to do the exercise.
Then we coach you through it & you do more than you thought you could.

You think everyone else in the room will know exactly what they’re doing.
Then someone next to you tells you they felt completely out of their depth when they first started too.

You think no one will speak to you.
Then the woman next to you introduces herself, has a chat before class & suddenly the room feels a little different to the one you had pictured in your head.

We’ve seen these moments happen first hand.

Our members are often the ones sharing their own experiences too, because many of them remember exactly what it felt like to walk in for the first time.

That’s how perspective starts to change.

Not from pretending the nerves aren’t there.

But from having real experiences that give you a reason to think differently.

& maybe you’ve tried Pilates or a gym before and didn’t enjoy it.

Maybe you didn’t feel looked after.
Maybe nobody spoke to you, or maybe you felt like everyone else belonged there except you.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Pilates isn’t for you.
Maybe that place just wasn’t for you.

& the stereotypical version of Pilates you’ve seen or heard about isn’t every studio either.

Not every studio expects you to look a certain way, already know what you’re doing or walk in full of confidence.

We certainly don’t.

Sometimes you need to try again somewhere that gives you a different experience.

One where you’re coached, where people actually talk to you & where you can come as you are.

Over time, you’ll start collecting your own proof that ‘I can’t’ can turn into ‘I just did.’

This will be my 7th Melbourne training in under 18 months and I’m so grateful for every instructor who has joined me in the room. Seeing the Melbourne Pilates community so invested in learning and growing in women’s health, the area I’m most passionate about, is the best feeling 🤎

If you missed out on this date send me a DM or email to join the waitlist. Instructors on the waitlist are the first to hear about new dates! OR you can start learning today with the self-paced online course!

“The thing I love most about this place is the feeling that I have when I leave after a workout. I’m the strongest I’ve ever been.”

Thank you Diana 🥺✨

Some would consider this to be controversial, but let us explain our reasons why. 😂

Your bare feet go in the long loops. Then the next client puts their hands in those same loops, then they touch their face.

Your toes go on the foot bar, the same foot bar you then grip with your hands, then touch your face.

& that squishy ball? It goes between your feet & ankles, then becomes your/someone else’s headrest. 🫠

It’s not just about what touches what. It’s about how we choose to look after our shared space & the people who use it.

At Tabletop, grip socks are compulsory because they provide added traction & help reduce direct contact between your feet & the equipment.

We of course practice good hygiene by cleaning equipment between classes & cleaning multiple times a week in the studio because “clean freak” is what our founder goes by.

So please remember to bring yours to class. It’s a small habit that helps us look after our space & the people in it.

“There’s days where I don’t want to come in, but then I remember the people that I’m going to see”.

That’s what it’s all about 🫶🏽
