#41 Stano’s Ultimate “Vato” Loco. Closing it out on the field he was literally born on feels absolutely surreal. There is not enough words to thank everyone along the way that helped, however this would not of been possible without the effort of my club members & decoys to help prepare me along the way. I will be forever thankful for what he showed everyone he is capable of today. Our dogs do these sports with absolutely nothing attached to it besides our own personal aspirations. Sure he isnt perfect, however it is quite the feeling to know that he has had a 100% pass rate in protection throughout his entire career. That to me will always mean more than any title. Thank you to my parents for providing me with the most rewarding journey that Ive been on, and always supporting me with the evolution of our training program. Thank you Jonathan Katz for all the influence and guidance over the years. You are a big brother to me and have always been an inspiration. Thank you to Lee J for your countless hours helping me cross that finish line. Thank you to Matt Taylor, Kyle Murphy, and Adrian Rae for always working Vato no matter wherever we have been across North America the last 5 years. Thank you to Kristin Thankachen for always holding the fort down while im away, and supporting me on this journey. Huge congratulations on your first leg of the 3. Thank you to Samantha Taylor for making me shit myself with one of the more challenging routines Ive had. Love ya and I wouldn’t of had it any other way. Lastly, thank you to Mickey Hays for being the only decoy that worked Vato from 7 weeks old, all the way to retirement. This is a huge win for PSA Canada, and I cant wait to see how the region grows over the next decade 🖤

We don’t have to remind you to “be the best”, when you feel at your best. New cutting-edge ROK9 “Championship” and “Competition” suit models pictured after breaking them both in during trial. Thank you to @rok9__mexico for always supporting and consistently reinventing the products available for PSA. The suits speak for themselves, and are second to none. Padded whip and Bag Toss made by the only and only man from the land down under @scott160 🖤

Every now and then, you come across someone who is genuinely everything they stand for, right down to their core. I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with @tommyjefferson13 over the last few years, get to know him on a deeper level, and grow close enough with to call him a brother.

Less than a year ago, Tommy underwent spinal surgery from an injury sustained overseas from years prior. In the months leading up to it, I watched him go from being able to function relatively normally, to becoming almost completely immobile after just a few hours of everyday activity. Surgery was unfortunately the only option.

After watching him go through recovery, i honestly wasn’t sure how much more decoying would be part of his future. After one of our trials together back in July, he had asked me if he had held himself accountable to get back in shape, could I allow him to do the courage test at our Fall trial. Of course, I had no quarrels so long as he was the best-fitted for the role. After a few check-ins, I was aware he was putting in the work, but as a senior decoy you always have to maintain an unbiased position. The question came down to could he still perform the courage just as good as the person next to him? I would be lying if I said both @decoy_jake and I were not concerned. Not only about the role, but even more so for our friend’s physical condition. After some bites days prior, It became clear the risk would be worth the reward.

Coming from years of fighting, I know it takes a special kind of person to take a shitty outcome and turn it into fuel for the fire. Instead of allowing it to defeat you, you use it as a fire under your ass to motivate and come back stronger. From crashing a helicopter to running a PSA1 courage test on your first trial back after surgery. You are a definitely a different breed my friend.

Tommy, thank you for being such a great friend, a brother, and someone who continues to inspire everyone around us. We’re lucky to have you in our lives. It was an absolute honour that you caught Patron on his last leg of the 1.

Proud of you, brother. You earned every second of that moment, and I look forward to many more to come 🤘 by @tacticalcanine

Vato treading water for a guard position at nearly 10 years old will never not put a smile on my face 🥹🖤

Shoutout to my boy @thedancingdecoy for giving him his annual pool bites, and @northernk9photography for filming it.

I’m excited to officially announce my Advanced K9 Decoy Framework Seminar, a two-day intensive workshop built for decoys and handlers who want to move beyond simply doing foundation work, and start understanding to apply the blueprint for complex behavior’s.

This seminar will combine theory, film study, and hands-on practical training.

We will not only focus on the break down of what we’re doing, but rather the timing, positioning, pressure, mechanics, problem solving, and how the decisions made by the decoy influence the dog in front of us.

LIMITED TO:
⚔️ 10 Decoy Students
🐕 5 Handling Students
👀 5 Audit Students

This seminar is intentionally being kept at these constraints so every working participant gets meaningful instruction, and individual attention.

💰 Decoy & Handler Working Spots: $500 CAD ($360 USD)
💰 Audit Spots: $250 CAD ($180 USD)

Working dogs should have an adequate level of experience, and video must be submitted for dogs looking to attend so we can make sure the level of foundation is appropriate for advanced behaviors.

📍 Hosted at Ultimate K9 Bodyguards
📅 September 26 & 27

This isn’t about collecting certifications. It’s about developing a framework you can take home, apply to different dogs, and continue building on long after the weekend is over.

ELEVATE YOUR SKILLS. MASTER THE PRESSURE. BUILD THE FRAMEWORK.

Hard to believe Vato will be 10 in a few months. Nothing brought a bigger smile to my face than to work him in front of an audience again and have him work like he never missed a beat and give no f*cks about any OB Id ask. I had to sneak a photo of Patrón in since Vato doesnt believe in a focus heel 🤣#ultimatek9bodyguards #uk9bg #psak9

Always fun working the generational “hate” that Vato passed down in this one. Good thing she got her size from Chola 😅
