Before meets after

I have been asked how I feel and think when I stand on a building site, I feel such excitement that I visualize the final look even before I begin with this project we tried a new look as our client is only used to white walls but we open her mind to the possibility of new designs and features and she absolutely loved it 🥰

Every detail in this home was carefully considered to create a space that feels both functional and inviting. by @tafiya.ng

Hi, I’m Femi, the creative director behind Tafiya Interior Design.

I design spaces that are not just beautiful, but intentional and functional.

From concept to execution, my focus is simple. Every detail must make sense, and every space must work for you.

If you’re looking to transform your space into something refined, comfortable, and well thought out, you’re in the right place. by @tafiya.ng

the walls, floors, and ceilings are the backdrop for the drama. In your home, these surfaces can actually create the drama. Both literally and figuratively .

The mood of a space can be directed through the creative “detailing” of surfaces. The textures, the colors, the patterns, the materials, all influence their character. In addition, surfaces are important as they invite display of other design components. Walls, for instance, provide the setting for art, architectural accents, mirrors, and, in reality, perform as the backdrop for windows and doors. Floors display rugs. furniture, and any other elements enhanced by this underfoot surface. The ceiling overhead rewards the upward-looking optimist with decorative light fixtures, structural beams, shapely moldings, and skylights… by @tafiya.ng

Imagine having your own bar at home where you can make your favourite drinks, entertain friends, and enjoy a little luxury without leaving your house. 🥂😍

That’s the beauty of good interior design. It’s not just about making a space look beautiful, it’s about making your everyday life feel different.

Would you love a bar like this in your home? 👀 by @tafiya.ng

Before the tiles go down, the details behind the walls must be right.

During our site visit, we identified a pipe that needed rerouting before tiling. Leaving it until later could mean breaking finished tiles and spending more to fix what could have been handled from the start.

This is part of what we do before the interior design even begins helping identify and resolve site issues early so the design process runs smoothly and the final result is worth every investment.

Not every crack means a building is unsafe, but every crack deserves attention. 👀

My client had just bought this house when she noticed cracks on some of the walls. Instead of assuming they were alarming , we inspected them, assessed the pattern and carried out a simple test to monitor the affected area.

If you’re buying a house and you notice cracks, don’t ignore them. Get them assessed before you commit your money.

At Tafiya, we don’t just design we inspect, assess, and help you make informed decisions about your space. Are you renovating or needs the services of an interior designer ? send a dm or click the link in our bio to take you to our WhatsApp page ! by @tafiya.ng

A beautiful home can still be hiding expensive problems behind the walls.

This Lagos home looked finished. The kitchen was installed, the tiles were down, everything looked ready for handover.

But we tested everything before signing off.

That’s when we discovered the kitchen drain had never been connected properly. The water was going straight into the wall. We also found a leak from the decking above, heading towards what would become the master bedroom.

These are the things you don’t see in a finished photograph.

We opened up the wall, fixed the drainage, resolved the leak, and added a movable pergola to the terrace so the space could be protected when it rains.

Because finishing a project isn’t just about how good it looks.

It’s about knowing that what’s behind the walls, under the floors and above the ceilings actually works.

Before you hand over a home, test it.

Has anyone actually tested what’s behind your walls? We have at Tafiya interiors

The part of a renovation you don’t see is often the part that matters most.

Before the final reveal, there are countless small decisions: inspecting materials, properly preparing surfaces, making adjustments, fixing details, and testing everything to make sure it will actually last.

Because a beautiful space is one thing. A space that has been properly executed is another.

This is the process behind the polish. The work you may never notice, but will definitely feel when you live in the space.

Good design doesn’t always need to be loud. Sometimes, it simply needs to be intentional.

I love spaces where every element has a reason to be there.
The organic stone, sculptural table base, curved seating and textured walls all work together to create a dining experience that feels luxurious without trying too hard. by @tafiya.ng

Renovations don’t fail because of bad taste. They fail because of what’s hidden behind the walls. 👀

This week alone: exposed wiring with no conduit pipe, a moisture issue we caught before it became a nightmare, and a door that wouldn’t have survived a year.

This is why project management matters as much as design. 🛠️

Most people think interior finishing starts with
installation. It doesn’t. It starts here the moment materials arrive. Every board gets
inspected for grain consistency, moisture, and warping before it’s approved for this project.
Why does this matter? Because one warped board installed today becomes a squeaky,
misaligned door in six months. This five-minute check saves our clients thousands in future
repairs. This is the part nobody sees and it’s the part that matters most.”
