“In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, my 4th graders have been learning tinikling, a traditional Filipino dance that’s as much about teamwork as it is about rhythm. As they practiced, I watched them build trust, communication, and patience with one another. The dancers and bamboo pole holders must stay completely in sync, which means listening closely, encouraging each other, and learning from mistakes together. We even added our own musical twist, exploring how this game can be done with different songs—as long as the rhythm stays steady. It’s been incredible to see how this joyful activity strengthens not just coordination, but also cooperation and confidence. #aapihm 🇵🇭 #philippines #tinikling

To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we asked artist @tk.hwang to create a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by a shared love of the sea and its life-giving energy.
“La Mer’s ethos is centered around energy, water, movement and healing,” she says. “In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, I wanted to create an Asian-inspired ocean landscape. The oceans are an integral part of how the world functions, connecting the world’s diverse nations and cultures. I wanted to show the energy that pulses throughout the world and how connected we are through nature.”
Stay tuned for more from TK.

We all know K-Pop now, but what was it like in the 1950s?
The Kim Sisters are often seen as the blueprint for K-Pop and its notorious group success. While groups like BLACKPINK and BTS are breaking world records today, it was the Kim Sisters who broke that initial glass ceiling for future Korean pop icons.
Did you know about the Kim Sisters before?

We’re proud to recognize Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by amplifying the voices of Serena and Siya as they share how we can better connect across cultures. Their responses serve as a powerful reminder: when we listen with intention, we create space for everyone to belong. #BelongAtAbbvie #AAPIHM

It’s #AAPIHM (Asian American Pacific Islanders Month) and I’m celebrating it a little differently! With a look at the Asian community in São Paulo. The neighborhood of #Liberdade has been a hotspot for Asian culture for more than a century, from Japanese to – more recently – Chinese and Koreans. It also has an entrepreneurial spirit, with small businesses thriving on the neighorhood’s unique mix of tradition and innovation.
I met with one of them recently – Mari and Fabi from @wecandleoficial. A mother-and-daughter duo, they started out as an ecommerce before opening a store in Liberdade last year, selling scented candles infused with aromas from Japan.
Check out my latest episode of In Company With (full episode on LinkedIn) to hear their story and how they’re using Instagram and WhatsApp to grow their business.

This year's Met Gala wasn't without its controversy and drama; but alleged 'racist' and 'xenophobic' comments from the paparazzi?
K-Pop group Stray Kids made their Met Gala debut last Monday, May 6. As the group entered the gala on Monday, photographers were reportedly heard making insensitive remarks, including stereotypes, about their appearance.
“How do you say ‘right’ in Korean?” one asks, apparently assuming that the members cannot understand English. Another says “arigato” (“thank you” in Japanese) as the Korean group was leaving.
Jokes were also made about the group’s appearance, with one saying, “I’ve never seen so many unemotional faces in my life.” As the members removed their coats to reveal color-coordinated Tommy Hilfiger suits, another quipped, “They’re gonna start performing.”
Fans also accused the photographers of racism for making stereotypical jokes. One was heard calling the members “robots,” while another demanded that they pose “with feelings.”
Jokes were also made about how viewers would think there were two K-pop bands present, insinuating an inability to distinguish individuals of Asian descent.
