“Corporate” is usually just 2 syllables in American English. Instead of kor-por-eyt, you’ll often hear native speakers say: ✅ KOR-prit This kind of syllable reduction happens all the time in everyday American English. Learning these patterns can make it easier to understand native speakers and help your own speech sound more natural. Did you know corporate was only two syllables? #AmericanEnglish #AccentCoach

Even as an accent coach, some days my accent just doesn't show up the way I want it to 🤔😐 That's not a failure. That's a language living inside a human body Here's what actually helps on the off days: Slow down. Slowing down isn't a sign that you're struggling... it's often a sign of control. Fluent speakers slow down on purpose. Know your trouble words. I literally practice "particularly" before I film because I know it's going to trip me up. Preparation isn't weakness. It's self-awarenes Correct yourself in real time without apology Stop, reset, keep going. People respect it more than you think Bad accent days are normal. They're common. They don't mean you're losing ground You're doing better than you think.

In 2018 I took up some lessons during my stay in Cape Town with ACCENT COACH “ROBIN SCOTT” (I owe that woman a BELL’s🥂🫂💐) to add American accent to my skills on my actors profile “Your intro video is where you sell your personality and not your acting” The team wants to know ; “What is she like outside acting, is this an energy we want considering how long we might be working with you (hard to work with), if you say you can speak Afrikaans, how quick can you show us, and how quick can you stand out before acting so we can say “she sounds interesting “ before we get to the serious part “acting” I’m posting this tip because I had a second friend whom I helped develop an intro video as many actually take it so light. But they came back telling me how the casting director loved the intro- a simple 40 second video can be your ticket to the next round Some times it’s not just about the talent but how you make yours stand out first Hair: Let them quickly know you are willing to change hair asap to fit characters look if what you have could be a minor drastic to what you can look like Make-up: Now this is personally me/ Yes makeup is required but do minimal for professionalism and still leaving room to see what they can have to play around with, especially if your character will be going through heavy and light stages. 3D make up isn’t for every audition especially commercials I’m actually so grateful for the small teaching that helped get into certain doors that make the process much easier/ I always say each year sign up on a new skill or new workshop to help elevate your craft🏆💐🫂🥂 Happy Monday Thespians…let’s be woke for this weeks auditions and help each other with those little tweeks 🥂💐🫂💃🏽🏆
EXAMPLE ⤵️ I’m Marina @marinadilevska and I’m an accent coach helping learners speak confidently in English. If you know all the rules, but can’t use them: 1️⃣ Make sure you UNDERSTAND them, if needed ask for help! 2️⃣ EXPERIENCE them in YOUR life. HOW? Let’s say I can’t use Present Perfect. First, I’ll think about a context where I’d use it - when I meet someone! Then, let’s imagine this scenario: - Hey, yeah.. I’ve lived in Calgary for almost three years. - No, I haven’t been to Jasper yet - I’ve been to Banff many times though. And on you go, pretending to be in this situation, using Present Perfeft in every possible and meaningful way. Like this? Follow @marinadilevska for more! #teachmemarina #transformyouraccent
