Shout out to Access-a-Ride from @ridertd! They made our trip to Denver airport extremely smooth. The enrollment for this service was very straight forward. I filled out an application on the @ridertd website, after the application was signed by my doctor, I scheduled an inspection for my mobility aids and lastly, was giving my identification card. All the process took about two weeks to complete. Not bad at all. The driver #jason was extremely kind and friendly, he made sure I was safe and that my scooter was properly secured for our trip to the airport. When I was planning my trip to Asia, it stressed me out thinking through the logistics of how and what to pack and how I was going to get to the airport. An uber to JFK can be quite pricey but thanks to @nyctaar I am able to book an accessible ride to the airport for only $2.90! I can book my ride anywhere in the city 1-2 days in advance and have a reliable and accessible ride. Since I knew I had an early morning flight to Asia, I booked my transportation a day ahead and managed to arrive to the airport with no stress or anxiety. Traveling is already stressful enough as it is. Also, I love the lifts in the paratransit, which I actually used to get my suitcase into the vehicle lol. One thing I clearly haven’t learned yet is how to pack light haha so I showed up to JFK airport with a full suitcase and minimal room to transport back any acquisitions I made on my trip. But I am a firm believer that where there’s a will there’s a way, and I certainly planned to buy some clothes in Vietnam, so I crossed my fingers and said a prayer that I would find a way to bring it home with me.
