Winter fun while in a wheelchair.
Fun fact I used to go skating every winter. I loved being on the ice, make no mistake I was no figure skater haha it's just something I loved to do, and when I met Ryan it became our own winter tradition.
I've had the privilege of being able to try a sledge before, for seated skating, but do not have my own yet, we are working on it!
So this is a great and simple alternative that let's me glide along the ice so I can still have fun with the family.
I can go on the ice without these, this was our first time trying them, and they worked great.
Typically, I use the ski blades to go over snow for walks when the snow is more packed down, but now we've found another use for them.
Trying to do all the things I loved from before the accident is important for me. Not only to be able to keep normalcy in my life, but to show other disabled people you can still do most of the things you love, it will just look different, will probably take some trouble shooting and more logistics, but if you're determined enough you can make it work!

And I just want to clarify because there are some people that like to argue with me on the internet 🙃 I am an incomplete quadriplegic. I broke my neck at the C4 level. All four of my limbs are impaired and I have a spinal cord injury. 💕

Meet @theoandt , a neuroscientist and wheelchair runner who’s breaking barriers and pushing limits. With hereditary spastic paraplegia, he’s proven that disability is not a definition, but a part of his story. His philosophy? If he wants to do something, let’s do it! From fencing in high school to wheelchair running, he’s found his passion and is crushing goals.
As a researcher at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, he’s driven to contribute to a cure for paralysis. His athletic journey’s been just as impressive, completing the Miami Full Marathon, Lululemon 10K, and more. Next up? Maybe a triathlon. His message: determination matters more than disability or equipment.
