Day 3 of looking at Ag tech in the UK and Netherlands on the VegMech Study Tour with @qldagriculture @gofar_fira @ausveg at the British Leafy Salads Association (BLSA) open day! The BLSA event was held at PDM Produce, Newport. PDM Produce is a pioneering UK-based agribusiness specialising in high-quality fresh baby leaf and whole head lettuce. @pdmproduce The Weed Spider machine by Seed Spider combines cutting-edge features into a single machine capable of mechanical weeding or spray weeding and thinning in a single robot. It is not currently available in Australia, however it is on the horizon for the team so keep an eye out for updates. The Weed Spider uses cameras to detect the crop and build 3D maps to help plan for cultivation intra and inter row. The machine can easily be configured with the arms moving to different widths and you can adjust the tool attachments in a few moments. Made out of AR500 the tools are robust and highly durable. You can switch over in a matter of minutes from a weeder function to a spray function.
