Ever wonder why reformer Pilates can feel more effective than traditional workouts? 👇🏼
The reformer uses spring resistance, which creates eccentric muscle loading. That means your muscles work both while shortening and while lengthening, which is a key factor in building strength while improving joint stability.
Reformer Pilates is one of those things that looks intimidating from the outside: the machine, the springs, the straps, but the moment you take your first class, it all just clicks.
Here’s what you actually need to know before you go:
The reformer is a sliding carriage with springs that control your resistance. Your instructor adjusts everything, the footbar, the straps, the springs, based on the exercise and your body. You just show up and follow along.
The movements are low impact but incredibly effective. You’ll feel muscles you didn’t know you had, in the best way!
“As someone who’s been practicing Reformer Pilates for years, I love my private sessions. They allow for more hands-on corrections and manipulations, enabling me to personalize my workouts and focus on specific areas. Additionally, I am able to progress more by incorporating more advanced movements with individual support!” — Colleen

Building lateral core strength, improving stability, and supporting better movement in and out of the studio.
If you’re ready to move better and feel stronger, come try a reformer class with us.
This side plank variation has you keeping both hands on the footbar at the back of the reformer for more stability. Turn your toes to the left and your heels to the right and you’ve got oblique engagement!
The reformer sequence:
1- Bend and straighten knees to pull carriage
2- Add a leg lift
And quite frankly…that’s enough for that exercise lol

The Side Arm Series on the Reformer builds strength through the arms and shoulders while challenging stability and control.
A beautiful reminder that in Classical Pilates, even the smallest movements work the whole body🧘🏽♀️
The theme for this week’s reformer classes on the Allegro 2 is to keep the footbar at the back of the reformer for the whole time. Check out the other videos I’ll be posting this week for the whole class plan!
The side lying sequence:
1- Elbow bends and straightens
2- Top leg and arm extend, top leg and arm bend (knee to elbow)
3- Add a leg lift when the leg is straight
4- Add a leg kick (Hello March MATness)
5- Straight leg pulses

Adding a little extra 🔥 to the Reformer.
Ellie’s demonstrating how a simple Pilates ball can completely change the feel of an exercise —
challenging stability, firing up the deep core muscles and bringing that extra spice to movements you think you already know.
Small prop. Big burn.
Try adding the ball to your next session and see how it transforms the work. 💫

Strong arms. An open chest. Shoulders that actually sit where they’re supposed to.
Reformer Pilates builds real upper body strength, it just does it without the ego.
Come see for yourself. 🤍
The Pilates reformer is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment you can train on.
We sit on it.
We stand on it.
We lie on it.
We kneel on it.
We add props Aka torture devices 😜
Every position challenges your body in a different way building strength, stability, control, and flexibility.
That’s the beauty of the reformer… there is always another way to move, another challenge to explore, and another level to reach.

Strength is not the burn.
The burn is just a sensation.
Strength is what stays 💪
In Reformer Pilates, rotation is not about moving fast or feeling exhausted. It’s about building control through the obliques, stabilising the spine and creating real core strength.
Your body moves in three dimensions.
Forward. Back. Rotation.
If you never train rotation, you miss a big part of functional strength.
This is where intelligent Reformer training becomes different from a typical workout.
Not chasing fatigue.
Building strength that supports your spine, your posture and long-term movement.
Build strength 🩵
Don’t chase the burn.
Train smarter.
