Movie location: I have posted a few scenes from American Me that are still in Los Angeles thoughout my page. This is a favorite scene of the fellas at Central Juvenile Hall. The scene was supposed to depict the late 1950s. The film was shot in 1991. Now, I am curious if the uniforms they wore and how the yard program was run was realistic to the late 1950s or still similar to 1991. I would imagine things would be more strict in 1991 but I am not sure. The transition scene into Folsom as adults is cool but sad they been in so long. I don't think anyone who was actually at Central in the 50s will share but those 1990s Juvenile Hall kids let us know!
I am aware this is just a movie but just seeing how much was reality. I also enjoy seeing the old architecture of Central you can see the yellow buildings, arches, and furniture in the dorms. Who knows the future of Central. The County has closed and reopened Central a few times so we will never know if one day it could be gone. Let's see.
