BIG Amex Platinum Card Changes 😬
If you have the Amex Platinum card, I’m sorry.
American Express just announced a round of changes, and the biggest one is not in your favor.
Let’s start with the good stuff.
First, the hotel credit is now called the $600 Lodging Credit, you can use it on Airbnb Luxe stays booked through Amex Travel, and you earn 5x points on Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel.
Also, if you book an Airbnb Luxe stay, you unlock a new $250 Airbnb Experiences credit.
All of that sounds great, but Airbnb Luxe properties are generally super expensive and niche, so if you weren’t already planning to book them, these changes aren’t helpful.
The bad news?
Starting January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts stays need a 2-night minimum to trigger the credit.
So if you’ve been using that credit on one-night stays to maximize value, this is a huge nerf.
So, is the Amex Platinum still worth keeping?
If you were only barely getting enough value to wipe the $895 annual fee before these changes and had to book 1-night stays with Fine Hotels + Resorts to do so, then no, it’s not.
But if you fit the target demographic of the card more, I don’t think these changes would ruin it for you.
But I’m curious to hear what you think below.
If you want a more in-depth breakdown, check out my recent livestream.

Amex Just Dropped a NEW Card BUT is it worth it??! 😳
The Graphite Business Cash Unlimited launched with unlimited 2% on everything and 5% on flights and hotels through Amex Travel.
Key detail — the $1,500 bonus requires $50,000 in spending in 6 months. That’s not for everyone.
Key detail — the 2% cash back has no cap. For high spenders that adds up fast.
Key detail — $295 annual fee. Not cheap, but competitive if you’re putting real volume on it.
But here’s the catch — it’s a charge card, not a credit card. No revolving balance. You pay in full every month or you’re in trouble.
And the “Pay Over Time” feature has its own separate limit — it’s not the same as a regular credit line.

Amex just dropped an update that can change everything for Platinum Card holders😳🤝
Before this, you could only get airline discounts on international premium cabin flights — which most people never book.
Now? Domestic economy flights are included. On over 30 airlines. For about $100 off per ticket.
And you can book for up to 8 travelers on the same trip.
Thoughts on this? Think it has a Long way to go but interesting change.

Incredible news for Amex Gold cardholders.
Amex just quietly refreshed the Gold card for its 60th anniversary — and they added real value without touching the annual fee.
Here’s what changed:
• You now earn 5x on prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel 🏨 — up from 2x, and now matching the Platinum card
• The $120 dining credit got better 🍽️ with new partners like Wonder and Buffalo Wild Wings
• You now get Hertz Five Star status 🚗 — better cars, potential upgrades
• There’s also a 20% transfer bonus to Hilton Honors 🏨 right now
And to commemorate the 60th anniversary, Amex dropped a series of limited-edition Amex Offers, including:
• Uber One annual membership — up to $96 back 🚕
• CLEAR+ — 50% back, up to $300 ✈️
• CLEAR Concierge — spend $99, get $99 back
• HBO Max annual — spend $99, get $50 back 🎬
• CookUnity — 40% back, up to $60
• Vivid Seats — spend $400, get $60 back 🎟️
• Plus multiple wine and travel offers 🍷
They didn’t just tweak the card — they added real, usable value across travel, dining, and everyday spend.
All of this… with no annual fee increase.
This is exactly how you evolve a card.

The Amex gods want you to go to Europe. 🇪🇺
There’s a new Amex Offer live — spend $1,000 or more on flights at AmexTravel.com and get $200 back as a statement credit. ✅
It’s valid on Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, and Discover Airlines. The flight has to originate in the US, be charged in USD, and be booked online at AmexTravel.com. 💳
Add the offer to your card before you book. Don’t see it? Chat with an Amex rep in the app — people are reporting they’ll add it for you. Worth 30 seconds. 👀
Unlike most airfare offers, one round trip clears the threshold by itself. Round trip fares I’m seeing right now:
✈️ JFK → Munich, $1,202
✈️ SFO → Frankfurt, $1,154
✈️ ORD → Frankfurt, $1,432
✈️ SFO → Zurich, $1,490
All nonstop. All over $1,000. All $200 back. Fares move daily, so confirm pricing on AmexTravel.com before you book.
Booking through Amex Travel earns you the same as booking direct. Platinum gets 5x points on the spend on top of the $200. Gold and Green get 3x plus the $200. You’re still earning airline miles on the flight itself. 🔥
Multiple flight purchases can add up to the $1,000, but the $200 credit only pays out once. And you have to book by 10/31/26 — you can fly whenever. Lock in a trip for next summer today and still get the $200.
Europe is wide open. Go. ✈️

The $600 Amex Platinum Credit is so much easier to use than people think… IF you know where to look.
Comment HOTELS for the link to the website I use!
The $600 credit is split into 2 $300 credits, the first of which expires on June 30th if you dont use it by then!
And most dont realize this, but the credit can be triggered by staying only ONE night in the Fine Hotels and Resorts collection (FHR). The Hotel Collection (THC) requires a 2 night minimum stay to trigger the credit.
And SO many people let this credit go to waste because so many of the hotels are 1000s of dollar a night.
BUT
This website MAXFhr organizes all of the hotels that qualify for the credit so you can spend ZERO out of pocket.
This is not a sponsored post btw, it’s just the only website I use when I want to burn my credit. And it’s FREE. There is a pro version available but you dont need it.
You just start your search on MaxFHR, confirm actual availability on AmexTravel, and then book using your platinum card.
Just make SURE to see the banner for either FHR or THC on the actual AmexTravel page when you go to book. If you dont see that, you won’t get the credit.
So go have an awesome free stay somewhere amazing!

Breaking news: Airbnb finally gave hosts some good news.
I’m Madeleine. I own a 7 figure short term rental portfolio, and I help hosts build businesses that keep booking no matter what Airbnb changes next.
Business travelers with Amex cards now have a reason to skip the hotel and book you. Picture your empty Tuesday night filled by a consultant with a company card, staying three nights because your place beat the Marriott.
Take the win. But make the stay so good they find you on their own next time.
Get compliant. Not reliant.

Not all credit cards in the US are created equal. Choosing the wrong one can cost you thousands of dollars in fees, while choosing the right one can fund your business at 0% interest or pay for your travels 📊
