Buddy Rupp’s final character turnaround is DONE!
This is the third design I made for Buddy, inspired by classic cartoon characters, Moe Howard’s iconic bowl cut, round glasses, and period-accurate 1940s beachwear.
I also decided not to build him as a traditional 3D model. Some 2D designs work better when you let the drawing cheat, stretch, and exaggerate for each angle.
Instead, I animated Buddy turning in Blender Grease Pencil first. This revealed problems that drawing each angle separately simply wouldn’t show.
Now the turnaround is locked...and Buddy is finally ready to act. 🎬
