Cuban false chameleon babies are just like real like tiny dinosaurs! #anolis #anolisbarbatus #cubanfalsechameleon #babyanole #anole
This green anole is challenging us to a push-up contest! šŸ¦Ž Males like to demonstrate their strength and vigor to any other anole nearby by doing a set of push-ups, then repeatedly protruding their bright red throat skin flap called a dewlap. (only males have a prominent dewlap) This tiny green lizard is the only anole species native to the U.S. It may change colors to camouflage, regulate its body temperature and communicate with other anoles. Video by Allyson Gantt / @evergladesnps #lizards #anole #everglades Video Description: A green anole bobs its head up and down and repeatedly protrudes its bright red throat skin flap, while moving forward on a wooden railing. It is surrounded by vegetation.
Introducing the smallest anole species I now keep: Anolis isolepis, commonly known as the dwarf green anole. And what better way to show them off than by tong feeding them some vitabugs from @timberlinelivepetfoods! These individuals came captive bred from Europe, but the species is originally native to Cuba. A true dwarf, only getting about 3 inches long, with strangely disproportionately large bobbleheads. They come from both high and low elevation, so can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. And as you can see, they love their insects, but other keepers have had great success feeding them premixed gecko diets… which I’ll try next! Such a fun species to add to the collection and I’m sure their popularity will only surge because this is a truly tiny anole with a giant personality! One of my new favorites! #HerpTime #herpetology #herpetoculture #animal #animals #reptile #reptiles #lizard #lizards #anole #anoles #anolis #anolisisolepis #dwarfanole #microanole #dwarfgreenanole #reptilesofcuba #rarereptiles #captivebred #captivebreeding #terrarium #vivarium #bioactive #asmr #crunchy #satisfying #reels
Anoles can regrow their tails—but the new tail isn’t the same as the original. šŸ¦Ž Instead of individual vertebrae, it forms as a single tube, making it stiffer and slightly different in appearance. This specimen also highlights the hyoid apparatus, the structure that supports the dewlap used in communication. #Anole #diaphonized #vultureculture #Biology #Oddities

Bringing this @zoomedlabs enclosure back to life! One of my favorite backgrounds I made over 3 years ago, and it’s held up perfectly (there is a yt video of the original background build!). This was originally designed for Cuban cliff anoles (Anolis bartschi) which I had the opportunity to observe in the wild this summer. And I have to say after visiting their natural habitat, this background is pretty spot on and was too good to not use again! So for the revamp, all I’m doing is using a few Zoo Med products like hydro balls and reptisoil so I can include some plants that should do better in this enclosure. I’m only putting a single female in here as I have a few extras, and she’s already been bred by a male; that means she will be able to lay eggs for the next few months without needing to be mated with anymore. She should lay the eggs along the underside of the background, so collection of eggs should be easy. Really glad I didn’t give up on this enclosure, it’s one of my favorites again! Should I make more background like this or stick to something less heavy šŸ˜…šŸ˜¬ thanks for watching! #HerpTime #herpetoculture #animal #animals #reptile #reptiles #lizard #lizards #anole #anoles #anolis #anolisbartschi #cliffanole #cubancliffanole #terrarium #vivarium #bioactive #bioactivevivarium #bioactiveterrarium #terrariumbackgrounds #enclosurebackground #customreptileenclosure #diybackground #diy #reels

The water anole, a semi-aquatic Costa Rican lizard, has an inventive way to escape predators: Dive underwater, draw oxygen from tiny air bubbles over its nostrils, and wait for 20 minutes or longer. Experts long knew these lizards, known as the ā€œchicken nuggets of the forest,ā€ made these bubbles, but only recently discovered they were intentionally created. ā€œThis is the first experiment that truly shows adaptive significance of bubbles,ā€ one researcher said. Where did the water anole get its nickname? Find out at the link in our bio.
