🌧️ Weather Wisdom Wednesday
You’ve probably heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” but here in Southern California, rain in April actually isn’t that common.
Most of our rain falls between November and March, with the wettest part of the season usually in the heart of winter. By the time we reach April, the storm track is typically shifting north and rainfall begins tapering off. On average, Los Angeles only sees around 2–4 rainy days and less than an inch of rain in April.
So when we do get storms this time of year, it definitely gets our attention.
That’s why we’ve issued a Next Weather Alert from Friday through Sunday. A spring system could bring periods of rain, the chance of thunderstorms, and snow levels dropping to around 5,000 feet in our local mountains.
Bottom line: April rain isn’t the norm here — but when it shows up, it can still pack a punch. Stay dry this weekend!
