colocasia ‘pharaoh’s mask’ 🖤 this one really is such a cool colocasia. the leaves curl backwards and the veins are so dark, giving such a beautiful contrast against the green leaf 🖤 zones 7-11 lots of sun and lots of water as with any colocasia if outside zones 7-11, you can dig up the corm and bring it indoors over winter, allowing it to go dormant or semi dormant. Comment “List” for the supplies! SAVE THIS! Quick & easy DIY plant wall using a wire grid! This has been one of my favorite set ups! Super simple but super cute! Easy to manage with all the self watering cups, just fill the reservoir and go! My anthurium have been outside the cabinet for a few months now with no yellowing and lots of size up, look at the difference! Be consistent on your watering by using self watering cups & don’t let them dry out to keep them happy! I relocated this off camera during one of my adhd freak outs so I didn’t film! I just recently saw this plant at the grocery store. This is so crazy. I can’t remember how much it was but I think it was something like $35. O MAIOR QUE JÁ VI! . Eu amo etimologia. Ela explica a origem dos nomes das coisas e seus significados. Essa planta magnífica é o Philodendron melanochrysum. Do grego, Philodendron significa “Amigo das árvores”, indicando o principal hábito desse gênero, que é hemiepífito, ou seja, plantas que ficam parte no solo da floresta e parte subindo nos troncos das árvores. O epíteto específico melanochrysum vem de “melano” que se refere a preto, negro e “chrysum” que indica dourado ou de ouro. Dessa forma, temos o Filodendro que possui folhas aveludadas verde escuras, quase negras e que, ao serem vistas refletindo a luz, especialmente a do sol, ficam com brilho dourado, muito exuberante. Daí a referência ao preto e ao dourado. Essa lindeza é nativa dos sopés úmidos dos Andes da Colômbia. Portanto, apreciam umidade e não muito frio. Infelizmente, assim como todos os Philodendron e Anthurium aveludados, são muito suscetíveis a fungos que causam muitos pontos amarelados nas folhas, devendo ser feita a prevenção com a calda bordalesa, que já ensinei aqui mesmo. .
