ARTWAVE WEEK 2 It’s the second weekend of Artwave and we wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all the artists, makers and venue hosts who make it all happen. An enormous amount of work, preparation and generosity goes into opening an exhibition in the festival and - with 176 venues and many hundreds of creatives taking part - that is a huge combined effort. Props, too, to the amazing team at Lewes District Council who support Artwave with so many of the unseen but essential tasks that bring the festival together - to spreading the word and getting the 20,000 brochures distributed far and wide. Special thanks to Jack Browning, Sarah Last, @joannagoodwin.art , and all the staff at the Tourist Information Centers in Lewes, Newhaven and Seaford. It’s inspiring to visit and meet so many artists and makers in their natural habitats, to find out all about their work, and to buy direct from the source. We’ve already had so many great conversations and seen some beautiful work, and there are still two weeks to go! Where are you visiting this weekend? ART CAFE works just like a restaurant, but you order art instead of food. Our current menu consists of 3 different types of experience groups: 1. Artwave Festival 2026 This year I’ll be opening up my home again for Artwave, showing alongside sculptor Rachael Nicholson for Structures and Surfaces. Across two rooms and the garden, we’ve brought our work together rather than treating it as two separate exhibitions — wall-based works and sculpture sitting in conversation through colour, form, material and space. Both of us work extensively with reclaimed and found materials. I’ll be showing work developed over the past year, from layered and worked surfaces on reclaimed timber and board through to a growing body of constructed sculptural pieces. Rachael will be showing work in metal and glass across both the house and garden. Venue 38 — Rural Trail

Artwave Festival – Coming this Saturday 5 September 2026   Artwave Festival kicks off this Saturday 5 September and runs until the 20 September, with 176 free-to-visit locations across the Lewes district, from local galleries and open studios to public spaces, creating vibrant cultural hubs for visitors to explore.   We are thrilled to be returning as Headline Sponsor this year and are hosting a special feature exhibition showcasing works by Lord Gage at our Lewes galleries throughout the festival. I was getting bored and suddenly the artwave hit me… so I randomly started drawing on a rough piece of material I had lying around 😭 Now it’s 2 a.m., tomorrow is a working day, and I started this completely freehand without any measurements or tools.
