[📍Bria, Grey Lynn ] Checked out the new Bria (previously Honey Bones) after the revamp and fell in love with their new menu 😍 We ordered the mushroom donuts 🍄‍🟫🍩 ($29), and the Cilbir eggs 🥚 ($27) I LOVE a savory take on a sweet dish and vice versa and this absolutely delivered. I don’t do standard serving sizes. So instead of taking on one rib challenge… I ordered two. Today I pulled up to @thekingslander , one of Auckland’s most popular sports bars and the home of their famous rib nights. Naturally, they’ve got a rib challenge on the menu. Each challenge tray comes stacked with: 🍖 A full rack of juicy pork ribs 🍟 A massive basket of fries 🧄 A huge cheesy butter garlic loaf And instead of the standard single tray… I doubled it. That means 2 racks of ribs, 2 baskets of fries and 2 giant garlic loaves sitting in front of me. The ribs were unbelievably juicy, but the real battle was those mountains of fries and garlic bread. Luckily I had some ice cold @jarritosnz on hand to help wash it all down. The normal challenge is one tray in 20 minutes… but I managed to smash two trays in 28 minutes 56 seconds. 🌳Dining with a view⛳️ Did you know you can dine with this view without being part of the golf club? @tamboeatery is a restaurant open to everyone and you get to taste how Chef Regi brings his Brazilian heritage into modern dining. You have to try his famous Brazilian cheese bread which really opens up your appetite. Their pizza 🍕 and pasta 🍝 changes seasonally and the most recent prawn 🍤 pasta took me by surprise. they used fresh chilli 🌶️ with a light sauce tossed in oil. I love a good seafood pasta that doesn’t feel heavy. We tried the nachos and it was so big we shared it between the four of us. @tamboeatery offers a range of platters and I’ve found my favourite calamari. They crumb their squid fresh daily and it’s a light yet crispy coat. A cute cosy cafe located in CBD just a couple mins walk from the new Te Waihorotiu station, Lumi impressed us with both their food and drinks. The Crispy Snapper Fillet Breakfast was surprisingly my favourite - fresh snapper and a balanced dish. Lumi are known for their “new generation” flourless souffle pancakes so of course we had to order some. Can you believe they are made purely just from eggs and sugar?! Meaning they are a healthier alternative & allergen-friendly. These take a bit longer to make, but are so worth the wait. They also have pastas, burgers and other dishes on the menu. It’s not often I come away from a cafe where I enjoy the drinks as much as (or even more) than the food, but the speciality drinks at Lumi were seriously good.
