Heavy resistance! @jbbb.9 is moving in the right direction. We’re still in the lab perfecting the craft.
It was a fun last preseason practice! Can’t wait to see everyone on the track Saturday morning!
Contrary to what this video shows, I am getting faster. Some more 1080 resisted sprints.

Progress in motion
As mentioned in the previous reel, our program has a full session dedicated to speed training. This is partially because the location of our fields relative to the weight room, but it is also because of the value our coaching staff has placed on getting faster this off-season. These sessions are usually broken up into four segments with distinct focuses. 1. Plyometrics – Leaps, Hops, and Bounds for rhythm, proprioception, and timing. As intensity increases from light, to medium, to ping tier plyometrics, GRFs also increase, requiring greater timing demands and more efficient patterns. 2. Band-Resisted Work – Marches, Broad Jumps (single, double, and triple), Bounds, and Starts for projection and torso control. The band provides an external stimulus for the hips to drive into which helps athletes feel the demands of hip projection and the maintenance of posture in acceleration positions. 3. Variable Starts – My two favorites are half-kneeling and falling starts. The half kneeling position helps athletes force the knee to drive out over the toes to create a strong first step while exposing any weaknesses and inefficiencies in positioning or patterning. The falling start inherently creates a positive shin angle and forward lean, similar to the posture we see in the overhead medball throw in the first clip of this reel. 4. Timed Sprints – I have been gradually increasing the build-up to the timed 10yd sprint over the past four weeks. Timed sprints allow you to see if your drill work and sprint volume are actually increasing speed or if adjustments are needed, and implementing a “rank and post” style increases competition. I have enjoyed using my personal @ovrperformance timing gates this semester for their accuracy and ease of use. #sportsperformance #strengthandconditioning #soccertraining #soccerperformance
Speed is a skill, let’s train it!!!
It’s just work 🏈‼️
Moving right along 💥👈
Each movement tells me a story. @jbbb.9 @slim_drewski
No shortcuts. No excuses. Just our athletes putting in real work. 🔥📈
We work in them trenches too! 🤌🔥
