VIA @ocjusticeinitiative Thank you for all of you who continue to speak out regarding Congo! Lets continue to UNITE for all voices in this struggle for liberation. —— The political landscape in the DRC is fraught with tension following the re-election of President Félix Tshisekedi in a contested poll. Tshisekedi secured more than 73% of the vote in the December 20 election, a result that has been rejected by the main opposition candidates. They have called for fresh elections and accused the electoral commission of fraud. The government has banned protests against the election results, further heightening tensions[10]. This political turmoil comes amid accusations of government crackdowns on opposition members, the media, and peaceful protesters Humanitarian Crisis The DRC is grappling with one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with millions displaced due to conflict and facing severe hunger. The situation in eastern Congo is particularly dire, with the Norwegian Refugee Council describing it as an unprecedented crisis that goes ignored. Aid organizations are struggling to respond to the escalating needs amid funding shortfalls and security challenges. The International Rescue Committee has highlighted the DRC as one of the top crises the world can’t ignore in 2024, with 25.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. International Response and Challenges The international community’s response to the crisis in the DRC has been mixed. While there have been calls for increased humanitarian aid and efforts to address the root causes of the conflict, the effectiveness of these initiatives is limited by funding gaps and political complexities. The United Nations peacekeeping mission (MONUSCO) is facing challenges in protecting civilians amid the escalating violence. #bipoc #congo #blackpeople
Isis & Shiva Temples are in the Grand Canyon 𓂀🏜️𓋹 as well as the Cheops Pyramid and many other profound natural landmarks and artifacts. The MU was found here in the Americas, being one of many reasons why this is the True Old World. Ancient Kemet is here. This is the Promised Land. History was told in reverse to confuse us. It’s time to wake up and remember what is factual 🙇🏽‍♂️‼️ Interested in the knowledge of how the Americas aka — Turtle Island, AKA ATLANTis is here?! Please join our “INDIGENOUS AMERICAN RECLAMATION” lecture on March 29th 📚. Tickets up now! Even if you’re skeptical or disagree, I highly suggest you join us. Being rude in the comments does not help the collective. We must strive for a better reality together. This information was not taught in schools, therefore, it is ALL of our responsibility to educate ourselves and be patient with one another! I am a forever student and learning just like everyone and I ask for grace on this journey as it takes a lot of courage to share against mainstream thought. Thank you! ✊🏽🪶 *CLARIFICATION: Isis Temple is the one with the very distinct point at the top and the Shiva Temple is the one in the background to the left with a flat top, making it a plateau temple* Take care & let’s study & learn together. You tell your parents you are doing something, you self-advocate, or you decide not to do something because it’s better for your mental health and.... your parents/elders try to take you on a guilt trip. We’ve all been there! Watch to hear my advice to one daughter of Mexican immigrants who is being guilt tripped about wanting to move out. What else would you tell this letter writer? If you have a pressing dilemma about work, love, friendship, family, cultural identity, mental health or more, anonymously ask me and I may just answer it in my Washington Post column. What is erased in the Yoga Industry? …Wait for it with this one! Reflecting on what’s overlooked… Take a moment to consider this: In mainstream Western yoga, there’s a stark erasure of South Asian wisdom, diverse bodies, disabled practitioners, and those who challenge the status quo. This isn’t accidental. it’s by design. Noticing a theme here? it’s not just harmful—it’s dangerous. In times like these, when yoga could be a tool for liberation, justice, and collective healing, we see it stripped down, commodified, and sold back to us as nothing more than a wellness trend. Sometimes, the weight of this reality is overwhelming—so I dance it out. 🔥 But here’s the real question: Why are these voices missing—both metaphorically and literally? The answer? Colonialism, capitalism, and white supremacy have worked hard to extract and distort yoga’s meaning. Yet, yoga is so much more than this narrow portrayal. It is a source of resilience, power, and deep belonging. 💡 You belong here. You always have. And the brilliance you bring to this practice? It deserves to be centered. ✨ It’s time to reclaim space, restore balance, and practice in a way that acknowledges these imbalances and actively corrects them. That’s what we’re doing inside @susannabarkataki’s Embody Yoga’s Roots YTT 300—a program designed to not only deepen your practice but to equip you with leadership, justice, and transformation through yoga. Are you ready? Let’s move from erasure to embodiment. From silence to stewardship. 🔗 EmbodyYogasRoots.com or comment YTT 💕 Who and what else is excluded in yoga in the West? Who and what should we center? 🔥👇🏽 🎶 Music: Waiting for me by @MadameGandhi #representationmatters#realyoga#asana#yogaphilosophy#ableism#endwhitesupremacy#culture#culturalappropration#desi#bipoc#embraceyogasroots#bodypositive#bodypositivity
