People only spend money on three things. Once you know which one you're selling, everything gets easier.
→ Solutions. You're paying to make a problem go away. A doctor, a lawyer, a plumber at midnight. The bigger the pain, the less anyone argues about price.
→ Convenience. You're paying to skip the hard way. Amazon didn't invent shopping, it made it one click. Uber didn't invent the taxi, it removed the wait. People pay forever to avoid friction.
→ Experience. You're paying to feel something. Disney doesn't sell rides, it sells a day your kids remember forever. The feeling is the product.
Here's the practical part. Most businesses struggle because they can't name their one. They're vaguely doing all three, so the customer can't tell what they're actually getting or why it's worth it.
So pick your lead. Write it down: "We mainly sell ______." Then make every ad, every price, every line on your site prove that one thing. The other two can support it, but only one leads.
Which of the three are you mainly selling?

The process of some recent work for @refillerycollective
They’re a platform for the development of refill as a growing retail model. If you’re not familiar - Refill is all about being more circular and less wasteful of single use packages. You refill containers from bulk bins rather than buying a new prepackaged product.
We explored themes like eco-friendly, circular, re-use, and Infiniti. Most of the refill space is littered with bottles and leaves so we steered clear of those.
The goal was to create a mark that would be easily understood and be able to scale with the business as it grows its reach into the mainstream retail market.
We ultimately landed on a returning arrow that also creates an R. We liked that the familiarity of the arrow in recycling would help people understand the concept quickly. But, packaging it in the R shape was the key.

What changes when you give a design more time, detail, and technique?
🥭 $50 process: quicker execution using a simpler technique.
🥭 $500 process: more time spent developing the details, including Illustrator’s 3D & Materials tools to create a realistic mango.
The point isn’t that this simple mango design literally costs $50 or $500.
The dollar amounts are simply a visual representation of two different levels of design investment and process. The actual price of a project depends on the scope, complexity, deliverables, and amount of work involved.
Same concept. Different process. Very different result.
