Why Most BS/MD Applicants Don’t Get In 🚫🩺
They don’t have a spike.
They have a scatter plot.
Here’s the difference 👇
1️⃣ 🎯 No Spike
They join:
• 10 clubs
• 5 random shadowing experiences
• A few disconnected leadership roles
But nothing goes deep.
A spike means:
One clear lane.
One sustained interest.
One area you can speak about intelligently.
Depth is memorable. Volume isn’t.
2️⃣ 🏥 Surface-Level Exposure
Shadowing once ≠ understanding medicine.
BS/MD programs want:
• Consistency
• Reflection
• Maturity
Not resume hours.
3️⃣ 🧠 Generic “Why Medicine”
“I like science.”
“I want to help people.”
That’s baseline.
They’re selecting for early certainty — not vague interest.
🧪 The Reality
BS/MD isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being intentional.
Build a spike.
Build it early.
Go deep.
Save this if you’re applying.
Comment “SPIKE” if you want help choosing yours.

Please read before you miss out on this efficient path
The traditional path to medicine feels like this:
High school → college → MCAT → apply → hope.
For many students, that means years of uncertainty.
But there’s another route — one that starts earlier.
Combined BA/MD and BS/MD programs allow students to secure their medical school seat directly out of high school.
That’s how I started medical school at 18.
And became a physician at 24.
This wasn’t about:
❌ Family connections
❌ Thousands of volunteer hours
❌ Being “the smartest” student
It was about learning the options early - and preparing intentionally.
These programs are competitive.
But the real disadvantage isn’t intelligence.
It’s awareness.
Students who don’t know this pathway exists can’t prepare for it in time.
That’s why sophomore and junior year matter so much.
✨ Comment ‘WORKSHOP’ to save your seat to learn everything you need to know about BS/MD programs and exactly what it takes to get accepted in my free live workshop.
Parents and students are both encouraged to attend if you are able to secure your spot!
✨ DM me ‘PARENT’ if you’re the parent of a junior in high school who is wanting to apply for a BA/MD or BS/ MD program this fall and would like guidance or direct one-on-one mentorship options since they are on a tight timeline!

BS/MD is the ultimate “early assurance” path.
These programs offer:
• A conditional seat in medical school from high school
• Reduced stress around the traditional pre-med track
• Direct access to major hospital systems early
The Reality:
These programs are often more selective than top colleges — and require you to commit early.
Security vs flexibility. Choose carefully.
Save this for your college list.
