Jordi Fernandez on the decision to shut Egor Demin down for the season: "He was dealing with discomfort, and it got worse and worse. We decided to take a look and make sure we can settle it a little bit. We ended up asking for different opinions, and this is what was recommended to us."

A lefty live wire. RHJ was about as prototypical a combo-forward as you will ever see. Shooting limitations aside, the body control and aerodynamism - particularly when jumping off one foot and shifting angles mid-flight - is a sight to behold. Rondae’s rim finishing efficiency never eclipsed better than 27th percentile for his position, but that is more a function of existing on the perimeter and operating more downhill from the outside-in relative to many of his interior positional peers. RHJ played out his full rookie contract in Brooklyn, including the fun-loving, expectation-breaking 2018-19 roster that genuinely went 13 deep en route to an unforeseen playoff berth. Singular seasons in Toronto and Portland followed before he went overseas at age 26 for his 7th season as a pro. Since 2021, he spent a year in Turkey and 3 in Puerto Rico, but has played in the Philippines since August 2024. He is currently recovering from a torn achilles. RHJ is renowned as “FIBA Kobe” after his 2023 FIBA World Cup run representing the nation of Jordan (averaging 24-8-4), a show I had front row seats to for multiple games. As a FIBA pundit, I abhor the modern trend of players being gift-wrapped passports to effectively represent a country as an import that they have zero familial or personal connection to (most recently Malachi Flynn in Turkey). Grassroots pipelines are an integral part of elevating a country’s standing, and accordingly, having an American ring-in is entirely disingenuous. But regardless, I blame the system rather than the player. Good on RHJ for seizing the opportunity presented to him, travelling halfway across the world, and putting on some show-stopping performances for a Jordan squad that otherwise had little going for them. He almost beat New Zealand’s Tall Blacks by himself, and his sway as a ball carrier and mid-range mastery inevitably upped the stakes. Not to mention RHJ has undertaken a ton of grassroots basketball initiatives during his time in the Philippines to reach young athletes in disadvantaged communities. Giving back and making a positive impact goes a long way. You can watch “RHJ on Tour” on YouTube.
