This is your reminder that God is faithful. 🙌🏻💖 Yesterday, Texas Bar exam results were released. I waited 8 years for this moment. Bar prep for the uniform bar exam was the hardest period of my academic career. I went into prep straight out of getting married, law school finals, graduating law school, and moving to a whole new city. I am not only the first person in my family to sit for the bar exam, but to pass it the first time. 🙏🏻 I am the product of my hometown’s community college and @utsa @utsaprelaw. I am grateful for all the mentors and professors who did and didn’t believe in me. Everything along the way was meant to form and prepare for the field. Also, thankful for @barbri_inc for preparing me for the exam. Thank you to @theladieswholawpodcast for keeping my sane and gifting me my @critical.pass cards! It’s official, I passed the bar exam!!!! Let’s talk about something that isn’t discussed enough... the emotional journey of not passing the Bar exam. The disappointment, the self-doubt, the feeling of falling behind while watching your peers move forward. I’ve been exactly where you are. The weight of those emotions is real, and it’s okay to feel them. But here’s what I want you to remember... 🤍 This moment doesn’t define your journey. Not passing the Bar exam isn’t a measure of your intelligence, your worth, or your future potential as an attorney. It’s simply a redirect, a chance to approach things differently. Here’s what I learned from my own experience: ➡️ Every hour you studied wasn’t wasted - it’s the foundation for your next attempt. ➡️ The legal profession isn’t a race - some of the most successful attorneys I know didn’t pass on their first try. ➡️ Your resilience through this process will make you a stronger advocate for your future clients. Looking back now, I can honestly say that having to retake the Bar made me a more empathetic lawyer and a stronger person. It taught me persistence, humility, and the importance of self-compassion - qualities that serve me every day in my practice. For your next attempt, make sure to give yourself adequate preparation time, create a study schedule that feels sustainable to you, and take care of your mental health throughout the process. Remember, your worth isn’t tied to passing or failing the bar exam! No matter the result, things will be ok. To everyone preparing for their next attempt - I believe in you. by following the below steps (basically studying the same way I studied for law school finals) *bar exam = UBE exam 1. going through my bar prep course (finishing about 74% of it) 2. using someone else’s bar prep outlines and then making them my own when reviewing the material 3. using the last three weeks before the bar to begin memorizing (writing my short hand written outlines as I have done in law school — shown in this video) and ofc doing more and more practice questions each day too 4. the last 1-2 weeks before the bar exam, focusing mostly on practicing a lot of multiple choice questions and reviewing EVERY wrong + correct question. you will eventually see patterns! (i definitely did on exam day) 5. taking many breaks throughout studying especially in the beginning of bar prep and the last week/days before the exam for more in depth tips on how I studied you can go to my website: thelegalmija.com.
